Um Rena is my favorite character i allways like the cute and innocent friendly and a bit shy i dont know how to describe it (my english is not good enought) but for make it easy i allways liked the characters that have rena's personality also i love redheads and lolis =p i like her dark side and her fetish for cute things ><...

She is my tipe of woman =p Im looking for a Rena IRL xD i love that character xD

Rena for me too. She's so kawaii, but she's also a strong person when she needs to be (and that's not just because of her knife she carries)^^

im on epsode 7 and im VERY confused and i kind of dont have the will to go on watching it please can someone explain to me why there alive again?! or at least tell me if ill be less confused if i carry on?!

Just consider the "chapters" as "parallel" stories. The purpose and goal are to be able to figure what is going on. and for this, you need hints that are scattered differently and so requiring different type of plot progression.
What happened in episodes 1-4 are NOT linked with what you have seen in 5-7, but that might explain you some situations.

This is probably a dumb question but my cursory search has found no indication. Apologies for the thread necromancy as well.

Mion/Shion is wearing a shoulder holster with what resembles a poorly-detailed automatic pistol. Is it really a gun? If it is, why does she never use it? There were several situations she's been in where slinging lead could have been very useful. And why does she even HAVE it; pistols are not legal for civilian ownership in Japan, certainly not by someone of that age. She wears it out in the open, even in front of Ooishi, and nobody even notices it.

You can tell that this gun wasn't put there by Chekhov since it never does anything.

As you've surmised, it's fake; Mion does help out at a toy store after all. In the PS2 game they actually removed it from her character design in order to avoid confusing the players. By the way, this short parody touches upon this.

If I'd only watched season 1, would have voted Shion.

But after seeing Higurashi Kai, Rena gets my vote.
She's a girl showing true courage, even in the darkest hours.

I have to decide between Rena and Satoko and I voted for Satoko.
Perhaps out of protective instinct, I'm not sure but I tend to like her more, even though I know Rena is the greater heroine, and I have a lot of sympathy for her, too. But Satoko deserves more votes not only because of Tatarigoroshi-hen and Maekashi-hen.

I dont know if Keiichi will stay like himself after eps 7 or not....
But I like his characteristic in eps 1-7.....
His reaction when Rena and Mion goes into Oyashiro mode....
