I have to agree with you on that one. I mean, look at what they did to Akamasu Ken's Negima. Two completely different Anime Versions that don't go along well with the G/N, breaks off to just end it however the (the producers) felt like, and over all, disapointed me (and millions of other fans).

Granted, they were 26'er seasons, but they were a let down.

If there wasn't such a demand for Anime now-a-days, they might have concidered going 2 seasons (26 episodes each) or more. Plus, the way they do it too is so quick, they have to decide if they are going to plan for more by the end of the pilot episode. Nice way to piss us loyal fans off.

I also feel that this is one series that can NOT be described in that short of a running.

Other Anime's that I feel that they have poorly transitioned:

GTO
Kodocha
Love Hina (though, just barely)
Cheeky Angel

The manga is really successful and with all the funny elements in it, it is going to be a really great series. Can't wait to get another long-running adult-targeting shoujo anime after Nana.

Er, that links to an article over a month old...

Thanks for posting about the seiyuu though!!

Let's see...

Takehito KOYASU as Ren - 41 years old (ie twice Ren's age). Definitely done some appropriate roles - in particular, Kira "senpai" from Angel Sanctuary, LOL. Demon king senpai for the win!

Takahiro SAKURAI as Shou - 34 years old. Probably most famous right now for Suzaku from Code Geass, though possibly equally famous for playing Cloud Strife. Also did Maximilien Robespierre from Le Chevalier D'Eon and is doing Guiche from Zero no Tsukaima (narcissist). Looks good to me.

Rina SATOU as Kyouko - 27 years old. Is doing Haruka from Nijuu Mensou no Musume (not too bad for Kyouko), Gekka from Kyouran Kazoku Nikki (LOL), Negi from Mahou Sensei Negima (err...), Tsutako Takeshima from Maria-sama ga Miteru, Haruka from Minami-ke (ex-banchou! lol!) and some others. Doesn't seem to be a particular pattern to her works. Kinda need a capable all-rounder who can also come across as rather ordinary and super-extreme - I think Rina might be able to manage this but looks to me like Kyouko might be her biggest role yet (don't know all the series she's starred in).

Certainly not a young cast we have here though. Probably just as well...

All three of them are good selections and matching the characters' personalities.

So the story and characters didn't entice you but the voice talent did?

Well, welcome aboard either way

Darn you, Ren Tsuruga!

I hope this doesn't end up completely different from the manga like Ultra Maniac.

I doubt it. I have neither watched the anime nor read the manga for that series, but after checking them both, it became somewhat clear the reason for such a difference, if there was any. The number of manga volumes for that series may not be sufficient to create an anime series that is 26-episodes long. On the other hand, Skip Beat is quite long. My only concern is that I hope they don't shrink the size of the story to match any number of episodes. They should let the anime go where the manga leads it to.

Looks like Hana to Yume has announced quite a different cast for the series.

Kyouko - Inoue Marina
Shou - Miyano Mamoru
Yashiro - Kawanago Masahito
Kanae - Hayamiza Risa

News found via this blog post

Now if only that blogger had actully supplied the scans to prove he is not another troll...

Chirie Kitsu as Kyouko doesn't sound too good to me.
Light as Shou fits perfectly.
Ahmey as Kanae is OK
Yashiro is a minor character and he gets a not too famous actor.

And he doesn't mention who voices the second most important role of Tsuruga Ren.

Apparently the latest issue of Hana to Yume (where Skip Beat manga comes out) has a different cast list... but since I haven't seen any proof I've kept quiet about it.

Nope. Hana to Yume #17 is officially out on the 5th but haven't heard anything about schedules etc. Haven't seen any scans from it yet either. The anime may be following the timeslot of HAL's current anime Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto ~Natsu no Sora~. If so, it would have just been pushed back a week (possibly) since that series had eps 4 onwards pushed back one week.

No idea if they are planning to do 1 cours or 2, or what. Or maybe follow some recent series and plan to do 2 (or more) but with breaks in between. I don't particularly care about that - I just hope they (a) do a good job and (b) get at least as far as volumes 10-12 since that has some of my favourite scenes - but we'd probably only get there if they did more than 2 cours. Fingers crossed...
