Works for me. Now we get something a little different, and a real battle...so far. I found myself feeling the horror, fear and anger of the townsmen. And the princess's confusion and rising despair. As well as the bandits' rapacious joy.
Good as the whole package was, the thing that most reached me was Taneda Risa as Rory Mercury. Really, Taneda-san is one of the best. She delivered that line about the smell of blood so beautifully, and projected a real spirit in her conversation with Itami on the walls. I like Tomatsu Haruka (the princess) too, but her voice here sounds forced and artificial, I must admit.

Uhhh... So Itami can now understand the locals and speak with them without any significant trouble? When a few episodes ago he couldn't do anything without using a translation device? Seriously?
Or maybe he was just hiding his 'power level' because he lacked confidence? But then there's also Lelei, who's currently picking up spoken Japanese in record time... Anyway I don't actually mind this (the plot can flow easier now that the language barrier is gone), but still... it's just too sudden.

They really can't seem to make there mind up on how much they want to censor this show apparently a dragon arm being blown off is to much but now talking about rape and seeing bandits slashed up with a sword is fine also Tuka seem to be acting more like the novel/manga now so that's good this episode is a lot better than the last one.

Since they are spending TWO episodes on the defence of the city, I am of the opinion that they are going to reach the halfway mark of the novel series by the end of this 2 cour show. Basically 2.5 books out of 5.
It is a good thing and a bad thing. Good thing in that it would have been TOO rushed to try and push for the animating of 5 books in 26 episodes. But bad thing in that I wanted to see how it ended. Well, let's hope there is a 2nd season.

IIRC, aohige poste the DVD/BR dvd preorders figures and it is looking rather good. There may be hope!
I admit I have been skeptical about the series, hype aversion all that jazz, and the first episode have not helped. However, I am considering myself sold from the third episode, which is when Mercury have been introduced iirc.

I'm happy their spending more time in Italica being that this is the 3rd major arc and conflict in the plot. It shouldn't be rushed.

Or you can fall into a coma and wake up speaking fluently. (I kinda wonder how hard Pina opened that door, though...)
