The anime has not made it as clear as the game about the situation inside the walls or even that there are 2 sets of walls. There are 2 areas, the citadel and the slums that grew up around it's walls. Fenrir does what it can for the slums but that is mostly giving some food and putting up the outer walls. Also Fenrir problem is not lack of personal, except for Godeaters, it is lack of equipment and space. But the real problem with the episode was that they wanted to setup the loli being turned away as a surprise. So they did not have Lenka ask any questions about why Kota's family lived in a shack. And they did not have Lindow tell the refuges the truth when he offered them a ride which goes against his character. Last edited by Magewolf; 2015-08-12 at 10:37. |

Similiar to the Rescue Alisa episode, Lindow and his team didn't know there are other people on the plane, they were only told to go rescue Alisa, only later do they learn of other survivor on the plane. It's trying to show that the higher-up at Fenrir are focused on the Aegies project only, or that they don't care about civilian. Quote:
A better example would be, a discarded military base in the middle of a war zone, with one shot of of escaping that takes time to complete.

Episode 5:
I wonder what the name of that OST is at the end...? Pretty bloody episode. Lenka, Alisha, and the others fought some black Vajra and they didn't greet them well. Judging on the end, it looks like the show is taking another break next week lol

I've only watched walkthroughs of the first game, and I don't remember the group ever meeting a black Vijra (unless I missed it). For those who played the first game, did the gang ever met with that Vijra in game? It makes me wonder what the studio is planning to do with Lenka's God Arc being totally trashed like that...

An actually good episode. For a moment I actually doubted whether the MC would survive. Only for a moment but that's still an achievement in itself (Not to mention surprised that the MC was still able to move after that. They get knocked unconciously easily enough but they can still move after having their spines cut in half?). The rest of the show itself is still flawed but for what it's worth, I thought this episode alone was legit good.

That was a pretty sweet episode. The team got absolutely demolished; man, nothing good comes out of suggesting to go for bigger prey. D:
And lady scientist...I hope she's still alive. -- I was going back through episode 4, and in the preview, you can see a number 0.0006%. And we now know that the Aegis is 0.06% completed in the latest episode. I wonder if there's some typo or mistranslation...or maybe there's nothing in common between these numbers? |

Well, it is said that the scientists discovered it; it didn't say that they created it (at least I don't recall). So my bet is that it was already in the wild. Probably dormant somewhere and something triggered its awakening.
Anyway, good ep but Alisa is still a pain in the arse in my view. She acts as if she's the best but she isn't that strong. In the end, Lenka had to try to save her, and she was the one that suddenly attacked the black Vajra, catching its attention, and causing all this in the end. If Alisa hadn't attacked the black Vajra, then they could have gotten a chance to sneak away while it was distracted in feeding. Also, at the beginning, it didn't look like it was intent on attacking the humans but went for the other aragami first. I blame the outcome on Alisa's stupid move. And it's obvious that black Vajra has human-like consciousness (...and face, which reminds me of the AoT titans.)

Episode 5
Wow. Things just got a whole lot brutal here. Sakuya and Lindow are also from the outside and just like Lenka, they know that it's hell out there. They know all too well what those people in the last episode were facing and what they will face. But according to Soma, this isn't their department so they should just shut up and do what they're supposed to i.e kill Aragamis. Sakuya is in charge of the noobs here and they're all too enthusiastic and want to kill Vajras. Things take a turn for the worst when they find people are there too where the Vajras are. And there are 3 Vajras there. When the black Vajra killed the other three, I thought that this is probably here to kill only the Vajras as it feeds only on them and won't kill humans. Boy was I wrong. Then, when Lenka started to run towards the Vajra screaming like the shounen protagonist he is, I thought that he will get a power up and defeat the Vajra single-handedly. I was even hoping that it takes long to kill the Vajra and it doesn't die in one hit. I was horribly wrong again. Lenka's shounen screams did nothing at all. Alisa gets smacked away, Sakuya and Kota get zapped, Lenka gets stabbed, his god arc destroyed, and the people around become Vajra food. And there's nothing this shounen protagonist can do about it. Where the hell is Lindow when you need him?! We are getting some of the stuff we see related to the characters in the OP. Alisa probably lost a lot of important things because of the black Vajra, which is why she ran off towards it immediately. The flashback part is getting more interesting. The cells being discovered started to appear in animal type form and Johannes and co was told to figure out what to do about this by the Murricans. That cliffhanger at the end though. Damn. After that freakin cliffhanger? Please no |

Brutal episode, Lenka and co. got pretty much devastated by the Dyaus Pita in its GE Resurrection form with winged blades. Lots of civilian casualties too, I guess the good guys simply can't win everytime against such raw power.
Also weird spot to cut the current action and add a flashback with info about the Oracle cells but hey, better late than never. |

The origin of the Oracle Cell hasn't been explained, it can be ancient cell, alien cell, or man-made, but it hasn't been explained in any of the game yet.
The 3 scientist are just the first to "discover" and do any in-depth research into it, it was already out there, as you saw in this episode, it first appeared in the pole, and was spreading itself closer to population center, and eventually with the abundence of man-made material and resource, the Aragami was able to evolve to what they are now. Quote:
1st mission, can't figure out how to guard, switch mode, so get killed. 2nd mission go smoothly after figuring out the system. 3rd mission, go against the OP boss, Black Varja that is fast, has a hard to find weak point, and can shoot homing plasma ball that, is near to impossible to dodge, and if you block, it takes 99%~100% of your HP. But this episode is basicly a good indacator of what it feels like to be in the game lore, world is ending, humanity is at it's last stand, and even the God Eater only have a 20% survival chance on any mission.

He's...likable. Definitely not your standard, hot-blooded shounen protagonist, but not the calm, cool kind either. If I had to make a comparison, I'd say he's a lot like P4's Yu. Basically, a game character turned anime protagonist except with a dash of Attack on Titan's Erin out of consideration of the setting.
