Just watched ep 3, very pleased with it. Again it's almost I imagined it to be(up to where the episode will cover).

Anyway, can't wait to watch it in better quality.

Also, I really don't think Eru is particularly socially awkward. She is every bit a proper ojousama type with proper etiquette until her eyes start glowing and she says Ki Ni Narimasu! Then she doesn't care about anything except getting to the bottom of her mystery.

Hey, that's a good way to advertise. Can you check out the owner of the cafe if his sales went up after the first episode was aired??? Curiousity?

Oh I totally checked already.
This last week was Golden Week. There were a lot of otaku making pilgrimages. I ran into these 2 people from France who were at the cafe for that reason.

The cafe owner isn't particularly surprised. The cafe has also appeared in Hoshi e kakaru hashi, which was also based on Takayama. Business is pretty good it seems and their prices are exorbant.

I also ran into these 3 grannies talking about hyouka and how cute Eru's eyes are when they twinkle. Felt a little strange haha.

The original novels were written by Honobu Yonezawa throughout the 2000s, the director is Yasuhiro Takemoto, and the series composition was written by Shoji Gatoh. The scripts thus far have been written by Gatou and Katsuhiko Muramoto, neither of which have worked on anything produced by that person.

In short, I wouldn't expect anything similar to one of their works.

I know that he has nothing to do with the series. I'm just saying that his way of torturing characters has gotten to me, and now I expect every work to end up in a melodrama storm.

What "Jun Maeda" you referring is? Do you think all KyoAni anime was adapted from VN produced by Key?

Houtaru is damn smart for using people. Or I should say, blackmailing.

Sigh. Once again, I know what works Jun Maeda did. I just say that his style of writing has gotten to me, and made me a sadistic bastard.

I know that this is a novel which has nothing to do with him, I just say that I'm actually expecting something Maeda-ish coming our way.

My apologies for presuming what you were thinking. By using his name in the manner of your original post, it seemed to me (and apparently others) that you were under the impression he was involved in this work. Again, I'm sorry for reading too much into your statement.

That was a good episode. The music is great (although too much Air) and the animation is fantastic.

Niece of Time makes sense now. I like the creativity of the series, like the clock turning into a heart. I was a little disappointed with her request but it's fine.

What I love the most about this is it's old. It feels like it's cliche and been done but it was done before it was cliche.

I also like that I can follow the mysteries. Mysteries aren't that fun if you have no idea how they came about. Sure, I wouldn't mind more complex ones, but these are fun in their own way.

Another enjoyable episode, and this time I was actually able to solve the mystery before the answer was revealed; the smell/deodorant and the fan/open window kinda gave it away. And the way he manipulated him... priceless.

Spoiler for things that irked me is...: Tougaito's(?) VA didn't quite match to the character's looks. Still that was pretty amusing how Houtarou got to him. What I didn't quite expect is that in the novel(the translated one) was Tougaito's state. I kinda imagined him to be calm in this part. I wonder was it just me who missed it that he was kinda uneasy here. Anyway, can't wait to watch it in better quality.

The first issue seems to be missing now, I wouldn't be surprised if Oreki's sister has that issue of the anthologies. __________________

We finally get the reference to the title in story... A book. Specifically the anthologies written by the Koten-bu... To which we learn that Chitanda's uncle was a part of. And a number is missing. AND THAT DAMN CLIFF HANGER. What the hell. I believe that I may get my sadistic desire to see Chitanda break down. Damn you Jun Maeda and your torturing of characters, you made me sick... (EDIT: I KNOW THAT JUN MAEDA DIDN'T WRITE THIS, I'M JUST STATING THAT HIS METHOD OF TORTURING CHARACTERS HAS MADE ME A SADISTIC, CHARACTER BREAKING FAN, AND I'M ACTUALLY HOPING SOMETHING MAEDA-ISH HAPPENS) All in all, enjoyable episode, and I am DEFINATELY seeing this through to the end. LC Shocking Pink Join Date: Dec 2007 Age: 28	Spoiler for Episode 3: Ah, I love the detail put in this anime. The clock in the beginning was an especially nice touch. What a fake-out though! If I hadn't read the novel, I would've expected Eru's confession to be entirely different. Her "request" is interesting to me, but I have no idea how you'd solve something like that. It'll be interesting to see how Houtarou and Eru figure it out. I like how Eru just will not let Houtarou stay in the clubroom. haha Houtarou once again shows off his deductive skills, pretty impressive. Slow episode, but I already can't wait for the next! __________________

Upscaled Member Join Date: Feb 2009 Location: Toronto	Hmm. About episode 3, anyone else notice this? Spoiler: The excerpt from volume 2, read by Houtarou was written by 郡山養子 (Youko Kouriyama.) The teacher in the library in episode 2 was 糸魚川養子 (Youko Itoikawa.) Her nametag was pretty clearly displayed as she was walking away. I think they are the same person.
