mashiba did manage to win in 1 shot but it wasnt like with miyata where he had broken ribs and fell throught the fight and could barely keep himself on his feet against someone equally or greater strength.with mashiba's match he had fallen once and was dominated for a few rounds due to fouling asnd his refusal to faul back(i dont like the new attitude) otherwise he would have won.i dont think the champion was strong though i mean he was at his chest for 6 rounds? and drops him once and could only keep at his chest due to fouls.the 1 hit ko seemes like a result of a weak fighter and not a miracle like with miyata.

Here's what I don't get. RBJ became interim champ because Miyata was too hurt to defend the belt. So then they fought and Miyata won, but now Miyata's injured again. Doesn't that mean there'll be another interim champ? And doesn't that mean Ippo could (theoretically) become interim champ and force a fight with Miyata?

If someone challenges Miyata and if Miyata is not available to defend his title within the window set by the boxing commission then yes another interim champ will be set by the ruling boxing commission. |

Well I guess the Miyata VS Ippo fight is at hand sooner or later. To bad RBJ was such an awesome character and the hype build up, utimate iron chin, stance shifting, power, resiliency, tenacity and intensity was great. Too bad if he'd be a trow away character, he needs to return, much like Vorg who is been missing for quite sometime now. Also we need to see another Richardo Martinez fight and see if age has gotten to the demon king in the ring.

i wish miyata and ippo would fight already. So that either him or miyata can already try to move up and fight martinez. or maybe if miyata loses to ippo he will move up a weight class. But i bet this will happen. Miyata beats martinez and then ippo and miyata fight for the belt and that will end the manga |

Anyways seems Morikawa is building up Itagaki, but as far as Iam concern he's not much getting any fan. But if there are, it's only a few.

I'm thinking, since the time Itagaki first showed up, that he's going to be Ippo's greatest rival to the Japanese throne. Before Ippo leave his JBC belt, his last challenge will be Itagaki, that's what I think.

Itagaki has potential and alot of skill and probably is like a combination of Kimura and Aoki, though on a different weight class and like Ippo he doesn't need weight management which is an advantage. If ever Itagaki moves in another gym, I expect Ippo and Itagaki fight seriously. Nanako though will be torn between brother and love interest...

What stops Itagaki from leaving Kamogawa and going to Mashiba's gym? Mashiba was the one who first put the idea into his head anyway.
Sorry, I just want to see Itagaki plastered to the mat in a bloody mess.

Anyways Itagaki does have a glass chin, probably even more glassier than Miyata's, though speed and power, I think he's above Miyata, but he still needs a Sunday Punch(finisher).
