On social issues however, the GOP definitely was handed a few face slaps (immigration, marriage, etc). If anything, the GOP may have to come to grips with whether they want to matter in the long run. Stick to fiscal policy and they might have a chance.

Great speech, the optimistic idealist is back, at least for a moment.
...until you realize the House GOP is still around in firm control. Therefore nothing will get done at least for two years. Nonetheless, congratulations, Mr. President. |

Pundits were always useless. Just took Nate and others like Stewart and Colbert to drag them out into the searing light. Hopefully 538 promotes renewed interest in math and statistics.

and it looks like Fla is at 99% and Obama is still leading by 70,000. So Fl is going to Obama, for the grand total of 332 to 203. To win all the battleground states except NC and getting outspend by millions and millions. This is something that Obama and his supporters that can be proud of.

A last count, Gary Johnson has about a million votes to his name. He might make 1% of the popular vote by the time everything is counted (he was not on the ballot in Oklahoma and was write in only in Michigan.)
So far he's the only third party candidate that has popular vote listed on Wikipedia's Election 2012 page.

People keep saying this but we still have millions voting for the Repubs. I think Dems have a bit wishful thinking the GOP as being two wolves tearing at each other when it seems to be just one wolf with a deer tick stuck onto its fur, screeching about guns and black people and terrorists. |
