@Thess: Nonsense. If it weren't a dream of his then he wouldn't have responded to Shirou the way he did at the end. A personal desire and an ideal--he had both of these. We already knew that from when he suggested running away to Irisviel when they were on top of the castle.

Bleh.
Zero would have been better off just ending it with Saber attempting to destroy the grail, with her lovely face full of anguish. Most of this episode was just tying into Stay/Night, and the last thing I'd ever want is to associate myself with that mediocrity. Oh well, overall, Zero was excellent. Some pacing issues in the first half, but easily forgiven by the second.

Plus, if you see 4:10-4:45 of this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gfXP...ure=plpp_video , then you'll see that it seems like the hero that is summoned has little choice/say in the matter... Mediocrity!? That may be true for the anime, but for the game, that's an insult! |

Despite the fact that ufotable faced a time limit for the episode and had to cram everything in and cut out some scenes, I thought it actually fared well for episode 25. Some moments did deliver the necessary emotional impact, for instance, the part when Kiritsugu was running around looking for survivors and Saber crying at the top of the hill. The pacing was also much better than the previous episode.
Although they cut out the Gilgamesh-in-the-mud scene, a part in the novel I was looking forward to, I'm glad that they showed a part of Lancelot's dialogue with Saber when he was dying, even if it was just Saber's flashback. Again, I'm certain there'll be more in the BD. This episode isn't without its flaws - I thought the scene with Kariya and Sakura and Tokiomi's funeral was handled roughly, but the finale was still satisfying in the end, in the sense that it provided a solid lead-up to Stay Night with Saber stating again that she wants to undo her past and Kiritsugu and Shirou's exchange in the end. |

Next chapter that really needs to be released as an anime in order to connect perfectly with Fate/Zero:
1. Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel (Angra Mainyu is explained the most and his rebirth becomes one of the main theme that connects the most with Fate/Zero) 2. Fate/Hollow Ataraxia (Angra Mainyu is reborn as Avenger) |

A very good, solid ending.
It didn't "wow" me, or anything, but it tied up all the loose ends, and it did a great job of tying this prequel back into the original Fate/Stay Night continuity. When it comes to not leaving anything unaccounted for, this finale was quite impressive. I didn't like the inexplicable deus ex machina revival of Kirei - I would have preferred it if he hadn't been killed in the first place. And Aoi somehow surviving being seemingly choked to death was odd. But other than that, I don't have much issue with the finale. It's a satisfying closure to Fate/Zero - Well, at least for those of us who liked Fate/Stay Night, I would think. 9/10 for Episode 25.
