Alright, so guys, what is the funniest anime?
I'm quite new to anime, and I want to watch more.
My brother got me into it about a year and a half ago. Now, I'm doing all that I can to find more. Yes, Azumanga Daioh is definately[sp?] way up there. Others that I have seen are Ah! My Goddess Great Teacher Onizuka Kare Kano [very naive] Chobits♥♥♥ hmm...now, now, I have seen much more than that, but nothing comes to mind. Note:: My username, shimboismyhusband shows how truly dimwitted I am. It's supposed to be Shinbo, but it sounded like they were saying Shimbo. Anyways, to you guys, what's the funniest; comedy intrigues me. -Mikayla |

For gut busting laughing out loud, nothing goes beyond Yakitate Japan. Though School Rumble had me laughing a lot, too. Shinobuden was another. Not too many others that really make me laugh out loud, but stuff like Azumanga, Ichigo Mashimaro and Lucky Star can get a good chuckle every ep.
But really. Yakitate Japan. Check it out. |

Well thanks, guys!
I will most definitely check them out. I did a big anime search about a year ago, and FMP Fomoffu was something that caught my eye. By now I can't even imagine what it was about, but I remember it's name. Another one that I saw and liked [how could I have forgotten?] was Saikano. Although it was very sad, it is my favorite. I don't know why, usually I wouldn't like something that has the ability to make me cry...but unfortunately, it did, and I do. haha =] |

I second School Rumble and Full Metal Panic - Fumoffu. Be sure to watch the first season before Fumoffu, because it will be funnier if you understand the characters more.
Also, if you like comedy that revolves around violence, try Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan. Another good choice is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. As for ongoing comedies, try Seto no Hanayome, Nagasarete Airantou and Hayate no Gotoku. |

Ohhh! Thank you so very much!
You've seen quite the library of anime, haven't you?\I'm too broke to become an otaku. Thank the Lord for youtube! Although, you can't be too picky with it, can you? If there isn't an uploaded version in english, you need to read subtitles for half an hour. haha. I really do appreciate your input everyone =] It's helped my friend and me a lot! [she and I have similar tastes, but she has no internet.] |

I 5th School Rumble and second Yakitate Japan, Haruhi and Zero no Tsukaima
you can also try... Galaxy Angel Tenshi na Konamaiki Genshiken and for Saikano like Drama/Romance try Air TV, and for Sci-fi/Romance try Elfen Lied (beware it's very bloody) Kanon 2k6 is also a nice choice for drama/romance

A lot of people say Air is really sad. I didn't really find it that saddening when I watched it. Thought it was just a good story. Certainly didn't bring a tear to my eye (which some other series have) but... well. A lot of people view things differently to me. =p

Fumoffu was a freaking riot. I LMFAO every episode, which hasn't happened for me before or since. Of course, watching the first series and having a slight tendency for otaku-ism (some references in there) makes it all the better.
Most shows mentioned here are a good watch, but are only good for laugh out louds on only a few occasions. Either that, or something was really lost in translation. And to put something new on the table, I suggest Kyou no Go no Ni (Today in Class 5-2). The manga was just golden when I read it, and since the anime is more or less a faithful adaption, I assume it is as well.. Though admittedly, I didn't laugh as much, but that's only because it would've been my second time through the same jokes.

But is it as sad as Saikano? Because I am very empathetic. Maybe I should go Wiki it or something; but I was reading about reviews on anime I have already seen, and they do give away more information than you need. For the review of Saikano, they told who dies, lives, and how Shuji and Chise end up. It sort of made me mad, but I didn't have an account and didn't feel like editing it, so I didn't. |

Hold on, how did SaiKano get mentioned with funniest anime? Anyways.
For me it has to be Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, the first few episodes of Chobits (crude humor), and some parts of Mahoromatic. Nodame Cantabile and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu gets a special mention.
