Well, the Shin Megami Tensei series did penetrate quite well into the West. I wonder whether the Muv Luv Franchise has the interest to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Persona.

Sorry to say, you guys are bit slow to notice that, theirs been some videos for some time.
It's a doujin-soft game, to be sold for 3000 yen. It's pretty nice that it was made using UDK.

The day when /m/en can play this together will be fucking epic.

But you see, I don't get how if you don't have the luxury of learning a language, you have time to wait over a year for a translation. Your on a computer, theirs plenty of books, videos, software that easily helps you.

It's a shame it's a Doujin. They really should release a TPS Muv Luv Game, but I guess there's always the risk that such a game might bomb, or severely disappoint, or likely both.

Insert Muv-Luv into Super Robot Wars. Rejoice as despair is replaced by the powers of Courage, Willpower, HOT BLOOD, and SUPAA ROBOTO TAMASHII.

Toss BETA agains MAzinger, Getter, Gurren-Lagan, Valkyries, GAO GAI GAR, Armored Troopers, and the Nu Gundam that isn't for show and broke the budget.

And it will be GLORIOUS.

And thats before Kai Kitamura takes a stock Gespenst and punches BETA to death.

Just to talk about my playthrough of Alternative. I am into the first major arc, the one taking place in the first part of December:

The coup arc.

That may not have happened if Takeru and Yuuko have not intervened in the Mt Tengen eruption part. Talk about Diabolus Ex Machina. Then again, those who have played Unlimited does understand that the part about the old lady is a fucking shaggy dog story that made you wonder "what was the fucking point of granting her fucking wish if she had a last minute change of heart?" At this point of Unlimited, I felt like punching the screen. And at this point of Alternative, I am cringing as I can feel for Takeru because, really, humans struggles for power appears pointless when BETAs are at your door.

It's pretty much damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

Well, for those who are in college and also work it'll be tough especially if you include house chores. They have to be good in time management to pull it off. Maybe they can squeeze in an hour at most, but how many people will use that small amount of free time to learn a language?

Oh well, I guess I'm just generalizing too much. Just forget what I said.

Ah... playing as Takeru in a Sadogashima stage and soloing against numerous BETA with the Storm Vanguard track playing in the background... I can't help but drool just from imagining it.

AhH why can't there be any good stuff for the majority English only folks here.

That idea is used so many times on the Japanese fan-fiction community. The most popular and well received Muvluv fanfic in japan is a SRW related one. With TDA as the main muvluv setting and features the entire SRW Alpha universe continuity.

Sadly the chances are slim, although it went up with the TE anime. SRW like NEVER puts in eroge mechs.

I wonder if those crossovers would bring the same amount of 'despair' that the original game has. I mean, with an army that consists of several super robots, the BETA wouldn't seem all that scary. Though maybe it's a different case if the superior makes a new strain of BETA that would counterattack those super robots..

This is also the point of the normal endings in Unlimited. Those endings are bittersweet since the humanity have a chance to start over and get really ready for the next fight, should BETA manage to make it to that extrasolar colony. Of course, those left behind on Earth had no way knowing that the migrant ships made it there, and safe. But who did not love the idea that the girl Takeru chose is well and alive with that child?

However, big parts of Takeru's developments are fueled by his despair. I think that despair really plays a big part in making what Muvluv really is and how Takeru mature from who he was in UL. I think that for us to have hopes, we need to taste despairs first.

Not to say that I hate when we killed those betas by using overpowered robots, but I believe some of the settings should still be kept in tact.
