Question How to make a Signature?

I hoped there is already a thread dealing with this, but i couldnt find anything usefull.

OK, my Problem is, i would love to make my own Signatures and Avatars, but......
I dont have the slightes Idea how to start with

So, i thought ill ask here for a little Help.
Maybe you could describe me how you make your Signatures,
How do you start, what Programs do you use, where do you get your Pictures and so on....

There are so many awesome Sigs here, so hopefully someone is willing to help me
I know thats its not like "oh i want to make a Sig, lets do it in 5 Minutes"
I really want to learn it, and spend some time in it.

Thanks in advance

Firstly, you need some kind of photo program (IMHO atleast) to edit the pictures and add various effects. Photoshop is a good thing, Paintshop pro is good too, but I'm not too fond of it, while Paint is a bit outdated, you should get something more advanced.

Then you pick a picture you like (Sources are hidden, ) and resize it to fix your tastes and the forum's rules (100*100 avatar; 500*80 signature for Animesuki ) and add the bored (or not if you don't like it).

After you get used to these things, you just have to try out various settings, like blurs, alones, glows etc. It's like making a layout or a drawing, you need creativity and innovation.

Once you get used to those thing, you will be able to do signature in a few minutes, don't worry. :P Good luck.

I use paint. T T
I can't "afford" anything else. But i want to make siggies & avatars.
I have Adobe ImageReady which works okay~
but the adobe photoshop that came with it, the trial ran out. So im stuck with Paint and image ready.

Whats "IMHO"? Is that another photo program? o.O

EDIT//
Oops. I didn't know this was an old topic.. ^ ^; sorry!

IMHO means "In my humble opinion" ^_^

If you don't have enough money to buy something like Photoshop, the I strongly recommend Gimp.
It is absolutely free and it have most of the features that photo shop provides. There are also tonnes of gimp's tutorials on the net so it won't be that hard to get started.

Most of the time, if you want to create good stuff.. you'll need photoshop or GIMP. I prefer photoshop though because they're so many tutorials you can use to start you off.
