We are an established group going on several years now. Our main focus has been older live action tokusatsu series, but we have broaden our thinking to other areas as well. All positions are filled more or less, but at this current point in time we are very slow, and would like to speed things up. All Staff is required to use irc. We are looking to release all shows within a 12hrs of air time. We will be using google docs for most of our translation and editing.

J > E translators: Must be fluent in both languages. We do not allow translation notes unless absolutely necessary.

Translation Checkers: Must be of equal or greater skill than the translator.

Typesetter: Must be able to create softsub signs that look like they were not added to the episode by the fansubbers.

Editors: Must have an excellent grasp of the English language. Ability to spot grammar and consistency errors.

Quality Checkers: Must have all the skills required to edit and time. Spot mistakes with excellent accuracy. Willing to list changes to the script without being afraid of hurting another members feelings.

Encoders: Must be able to work with multiple kinds of sources. Encode in both h264 and xvid when needed. Quad or i7 preferred. Must have a fast internet speed. Video quality is a must!

Raw Cappers: Someone who can provide us with .ts raws right after air time. This job does not require irc.

Distro: More seed boxes or irc bots never hurt.

Bit of a lone wolf here, a few personal projects that I'm working on re-subbing (first one was a Hong-Kong sub, second one was low quality 'official' subs for an overseas release) and what I'm missing is someone to do animated karaoke effects for the OP/ED, and some insert songs. Kindaichi academy works really needs some anime typesetters since all three of ours are currently to busy, and we have 7 fully translated scripts/episodes for kindaichi alone that need typesetting. also we could really use some help working the anime raw p2p programs, because while we have raws for most episodes are translators are complaining about the quality making it hard to read the kanji so we can figure out everyones names. I would normally not do something like this however we really need some help and I am running out of people to recruit for this project. we would also love to have more Timers, Translators (french to english, CHN to english, and of course JP to english) or Translation checkers (JP to english only). and Karaoke people. we really NEED RAW PROVIDERS (really needed for episodes 1-13 since we have very few raws and we are helping spider (irc name) do an Arabic release of kindaichi as well) (we can not find HQ raws online) AND TYPESETTERS

Translation Checkers (NEEDED!?!?)

Note: This only requires you to do a check over the translation, not to do a full translation.

Someone that goes through the English translation to make sure it is grammatically sound, and makes sense. Editors also ensure that typos, and other errors in regards to the translation are eradicated.
Experience Required: Must have a strong understanding of the English language.

Being able to time when the translated text will show/disappear on the episode.
Experience Required: Must know how to scene time, and not have any scene bleeding. We can teach you if your not experienced.

Check for issues such as graphical artifacts, timing errors, typos, grammar, legibility, sound and video quality.

Supplying the raw episode to our staff from Japan in a timely manner.
Experience Required: Must know how to find and download episodes in high quality, and then upload it to our ftp so our translators can start translating.

Designing the text effects for the Opening/Closing songs of our projects.

Being able to either seed(Bittorrent), serve a XDCC bot or host Direct Downloads.

Hi all,

ASR:Kurou Underground Translations (ASR for short) is looking for motivated individuals to help sub a few projects this summer and beyond. We're a small but growing group that started out as a speedsub group, but has since then developed into releasing high-quality fansubs for several popular anime series.


Capper: If you're able to cap things that aren't available on DVD, or get us releases even the slightest bit earlier, we'd love to have you onboard.

Translator: Japanese->English preferred, though at this point we're willing to take Chinese->English or Korean->English. You must be proficient in your language, however; first- and second-year language students need not apply.

Translation Checker: Same as above, though the requirements aren't so stringent in terms of Japanese. You must have flawless English skills, though.

Encoder: You must have a fairly powerful computer- our current encoder does all of his work off of his laptop, which is pretty slow. In addition, you must have a decent internet connection, as you'll be uploading workraws and final encodes, which take a significant amount of bandwidth. If you're not familiar with encoding, he is a wealth of knowledge on the subject, however, so extensive experience in this field is not required, though it is preferred.

Styler/Typesetter: A good eye for aesthetics is required, and the ability to be on when scheduled.

Timer: Some experience with Aegisub is preferred, though not strictly necessary. As always with timing, great patience is a must.

Quality Control: Only two criteria are really necessary for this job- a good handle of English, and the ability to be on and present when we need you. You'll be watching (and re-watching, preferably) our release candidates for errors with translation, timing, or encoding immediately prior to distribution, so you're the last line of defense, so to speak.

Our primary concern with the above positions is that you be able to hang out with us and work efficiently. Not a whole lot else is required aside from the position-specific skills.
