To be honest, if a reader dropped a novel because it pisses him/her off, then that reader won't read many series.

Looking at the critics at Claire, I still wonder why people managed to find Haruhi "cute".

But at least we're lucky Claire's name isn't in the LN's title like Haruhi, ZnT or HnA.

This is kind of getting absurd a bit, I understand people's criticism but there got to be something else more worthwhile to be discuss than posting what you dislike about a single character. Let's try to discuss something like the story plot.

We don't have enough spoilers. Most people here can't read Japanese and the ones who can don't share as much spoilers as other series.

The spoilers for vol. 7 is only half done.

And with the translation still at vol. 2 with Claire saying annoying lines every time she appears, I can't help but bash her.

And from the spoilers, it seems like only her role got reduced, but her terrible attitude remains the exact same.

Somehow, I liked the title, it's funny, despite my disfavor of Claire.By the way, Claire got even more annoying in volume three, just so you know. That's when you discover how possessive she really is.

All in all this Light Novel is relatively new, characters like Claire are often depicted harshly in the first volumes. ZnT's Louise was like that earlier on, but later became somewhat a likable character. Claire's role doesn't change much later on, but her abusive ways have changed a bit. I don't see this Light Novel ending anytime soon so there is much time to improve Claire's character. At least we can agree on that right?
