I honestly can't sit back and accept this comment. I see no trolling in the show whatsoever. I've yet to see the latest episode, but this has been (and I expect will stays as) a solid story from start to finish.

About Miu being chosen, that's purely preference in terms of personal reaction to it (I too was rooting for Airi in the beginning). The fact remains that they decided to go down another possible route, and I enjoyed that as much (if not more) than the "Main heroine" and found it refreshing at the same time. That's not trolling, it's creativity. I honestly wish that more romance shows weren't predictable with their final pairing, as it makes shipping more fun to do throughout!

So with a completely opposite reaction to your own, my hat goes off to Manglobe as I am enjoying this show immensely.

I thought 'Miu-sensei was interesting .. but Yuiko-sensei was too much for me i just had to lol.

Anyway ... i don't really know what to say for this episode. Sana seems to have recovered after staying at home for 1 day consolidating her thoughts @.@ which , well is good for her.

The thing that i was more interested in was how Miu started to be/try to be more intimate with Shingo and he's all shy and stuff :3

My understanding of the Raw version is not that good yet . But i was wondering ... does Airi & her mother's relationship never ever rectify? Unless she goes out with Shingo? I didn't play the VN. During X-mas at Airi's house i think Ange mentioned something about Airi's mother and the mood got totally spoiled. But Renka doesn't seem that bad of a mother @.@ Or is she just a plain workaholic? I thought she was quite a nice mother @.@ though she likes to tease people like her teachers [i personally think she got influenced by Yuiko :P]
The relationship between Airi & her mother seems to be moving further and further apart ~.~ During her Convo with Yuiko , i felt like Renka wanted to be more closer to her daughter like Miu is with Yuiko , but her relationship with Airi is getting from bad to worst .

On the topic about mothers i kinda like the Scene where Yuiko was looking down from god-knows-which building

at Shingo picking up Miu from work/meeting her from work. It's like she's 'entrusting' her pampered daughter to him :3 It just felt like a nice motherly moment. LOL.

One last thing that i wanted to ask ... Do anyone else feel Miu has suddenly grown taller? Maybe it's my imagination. But i feel like she has suddenly grown taller ~.~ I get that she was suppose to be the shortest of the 5 girls. But she suddenly seems to be more or less only afew cm shorter than Shingo when they started hanging out. It's like she suddenly grew taller to match Shingo. [Lol] Or isit just my imagination?

I thought it got a little better after the Airi arc ... for me it has been pretty steady in delivering.

I don't think it changes significantly -- if you liked the early episodes, you should also like the remaining episodes. There have been some criticisms of some of the plot transitions involved, but overall most seem satisfied with the show and the writing. However, if you have a very strong preference for one heroine or another, as always, there is a chance your preference may not be realized. For some that's a bigger deal than it is for others. I personally think that the recent episodes have been a real highlight for the show, and am looking forward to the finale.

If they don't deal with it more next episode, I may say more, but suffice it to say this episode started to give some of the hints (combined with some of the stuff they say earlier). Indeed, Ranka is a workaholic (ref. Episode 11, Airi & Ange discuss the merger & Ranka) who seemed to neglect her daughter (ref. Episode 4, First Birthday Party). At the start of the show, Airi thought her mother was careless, unreliable, and selfish (ref. Episode 1, Airi brings Ranka to address the new students), but she's still a major authority figure that everyone looks up to. So Airi still feels that she needs to live up to her mother's image/reputation, even doubly so now that she's living on her own (ref. Episode 4, Airi's secret is revealed). Over the course of the show, we are starting to understand, though, that Ranka is looking out for her daughter and for everyone's future in her own way (ref. Episode 11, Ranka and Yuiko's conversation), even though Airi isn't yet able to see that from her perspective.

I'm not sure how much progress there will be between Airi and Ranka in the last episode, but basically I see this as a very typical parent-teenager relationship issue. When you're at that age, it can seem like everything your parents do is wrong and selfish, and it takes time and perspective to look back on everything and understand that, even though they're not perfect, they had their reasons and were trying to look out for you in their own way. It's much the same as how Miu can't stand her mother because she seems to be always teasing her and giving her a hard time, but she doesn't see yet that her mother's always looking out for her in her own way. So I think, even if it doesn't resolve perfectly here, these are issues that time will heal, and part of the point of this show is about "gaining perspective on life".

This episode moved a bit slower than I expected, but the overall "feel" of it was very much appreciated. After all the prior drama that culminated in previous episode this was like a very relaxing wind-down, allowing characters to settle in within the frame of the new situation. And time spent well it was indeed.

As much as I liked the sugar overload that is the consummation of Miu's and Shingo's romance, it's the parts that focused on the other characters, most notably Sana and Airi, that were the real highlight of the episode in my opinion. Sana coming to terms with her own feelings and the fact they won't be returned, yet choosing to maintain her prior relationship with Shingo was both touching and well executed. Both the swing and playground scenes were probably my favorites of the episode and felt superbly directed.

And of course we have reappearance of the fateful "That's just the sort of a guy he is" comment, which obviously draws a parallel to Airi and episode 6, putting an effective end to the active "romance" part of said character, much like it did back then. Another nice touch and furthering the parallels between Sana's and Airi's situations.

Likewise, the part with both mothers was both thoughtful and touching at the same time. Both don't really get along with their daughters, yet do what they can to look out for them. Yuiko leaving straight after Shingo arrived to pick Miu up was also a nice moment, as if implying she is indeed entrusting her daughter to him. A development she is genuinely happy about I believe, seeing Miu's prior tendencies to work herself to exhaustion for the sake of Nukobu. (Something that reflects in her quite suggestive teasing ... I don't think she would be so readily giving them ideas if she wasn't fine with certain developments ).

As for the romance between Miu and Shingo, I must admit it left me grinning like an idiot for the most part, they certainly retained the overdose of sugar and fluff the original VN is well known for. Awkward as hell, funny and absurdly sweet at the same time - quite appropriate for a fluffy first romance on both their parts What bears noting is that Shingo was actually the more shy of the two, with Miu being more proactive (if awkward) about advancing their relationship. I guess Shingo hasn't quite yet wrapped his head around the fact he is actually going out with Miu, the girl who made his heart race from the moment he laid his eyes on her (and probably considered out of his reach), and that he is actually allowed (and even expected by Miu) to do all these relationship and romance related things with her. (Though I suppose said Christmas night will certainly help him with getting there ).

One thing that spoiled the scene a bit for me though was the overall art quality of it, which seemed somewhat off. Especially Miu's blushing and the general camera angle/proportions were of suspect, something I hope will get cleaned up. Otherwise it's the one speedbump in an otherwise straight lane.

So ... yeah, a very good episode that followed the same Miu & Shingo / everyone else format of the previous ones, and delivered what could be largely considered as emotional closure for both (probably more so for "everyone else" than Miu and Shingo, I certainly don't think we have seen the last of them and lovey-dovey scenes, more so in the relationship having a reached a stage where they want it to be) sides. Overall the episode served the purpose of "stabilizing" the cast and overall atmosphere, so that everyone can face the final episode together without any fractures or under-the-surface tension within the group.

Next week is the last, and I expect the main focus to be on final commentary on the school merger, along with Nukobu taking the center stage once more, with the final (and most painful) task that was alluded to previously - Pannya's impending release back in to the wilds. Along with some more Shingo/Miu interactions, though in light of said task, I wouldn't be surprised if the overall tone were to be rather bittersweet.

On a humorous side note, is it me or is Ange the only one who is still oblivious to the relationship between Miu and Shingo. I expect some comedy to come out of this yet

Actually Shingo is not called by his first name by the other girls.
Sakuno always called Shingo nii-san (even in her own VN route) and never by his first name.
Ange used to call him Shingo-san but now calls him danna-sama (in fact she always calls people by their first names, even calling the principal Ranka-san).
Airi only called Shingo by his first name after they have become lovers in the VN. I doubt that's going to happen at this point.

edit: I just remembered that Ange does not call Sana by her full first name

Why would Shingo do that? Usually in japan there has to be a reason why a guy calls a girl by their first names, like a close relationship.
In Ange's case it's easier to call her that, because she calls herself that way all the time and her full name might be too difficult or too long for japanese people. The only person who does not call her Ange is Miu.
