Oh no, Mass Effect 2's not out yet. We're all still waiting for it. Possibly acquiring Dragon Age too so that we can get the code for that sweet, sweet Blood Dragon Armour.

I suggest getting ME1 now and play it, the story is kind of critical in this game and a lot of things in ME2 aren't going to make sense if you skip it.

It also gives you a new game to play during the holidays. Double bonus. :3

Get it now, ME2 will be a lot better when you have a character with a backstory that you created instead of being predetermined by the game.

Get and play ME1 first, you need to build a yurious (serious yuri) relationship with Tali know the backstory in order to get the best out of your gameplay

I'm a guy who gets consistently fragged by my FPS buddies, but I didn't find ME1 to be a big departure from other action-rpgs. In fact, with the ability to pause the game at any time AND aim while you're paused, it plays 'more turn based' than your typical action RPG.

Also, at least in ME1, combat was mostly that your shots will fall in your targeting reticle. So if your reticle is particularly large, there's still dice rolls being done on the background to determine whether you hit the target, even if its dead centre in your reticle. And at max accuracy where you can't get your reticle any smaller, its still large enough that you don't need pinpoint accuracy to hit your target.

ME2 on the otherhand is a whole different story, since I hear they're changing the targeting mechanics. But considering I hear Biotics will be upgraded in that you can kill people with them now (rather than being used as a support to disable enemies and control the battlefield), and that developers say that the Adept (ie. mage class) can win battles without firing a single shot, then its a rather moot point for the wizard-loving, spellcasting RPG player in me. XD

well... true, but that's not really what I meant with dice rolls. I mean, this is no different from any other shooting game with an automatic weapon.

Anyway, there's a difference between being bad at shooters, and being fragged by people who are good at shooters. I mean, I fancy myself a decent shot, but my friends can easily make me exclaim "How the hell did you hit me? You didn't see me for more than a fraction of a second while being just a tiny little pixel in the distance!"

So don't put yourself down because your friends frag you. It's not you, they're just insane at shooters.

ME1 is so damn good value for the buck. I bought my PC version for what, 20 bucks canadian including taxes? Best 20 bucks I EVER spent in recent memory... and I'm no big fan of sci-fi (more fantasy freak), not an action-rpg lover (love my turn based games), and I wasted 2 hours of my time trying to get it working because stupid DRM wasn't functioning properly (I am so freaking glad ME2 is just a disc check).

So yeah, that's saying something.

I think on the Bioware forums they are saying you have to break up with your ME 1 love interest to tap Miranda or Subject Zero's ass. Don't quote me on that though

I read in some article that Shepard gets to customize the suit of N7 armor throughout the game. Everything from appearance, to camouflage coloring, to the effects it gives.

Tali is in already. Maybe Garrus will come back because they need a Taurian. He did say he put in for Specter training.

Check down, someone from BioWare just casually mentioned that Shep's assistant is a romance option.

We can cheat on our wivesgirlfriends with our secretaries in this game!!

Wow, there some really awesome discussion going on there:-
Quote:
-I like Miranda but I just got off of ME1 and Tali is making a strong push into 1st place, if she is romanceable

-She's proably stupid ugly w/o that helmet, and her hips are crappy..

-My bachelor renegade Shep just died some more
nah Tali is 3 it goes:

Miranda
Kelly
Tali
Doctor Chakwas
Sheps Own Hand
Subject Zero

-Thats right dead last, beind Doctor Chakwas and Sheps Own Hand even...so sad

-You would rather jack-off than do Suze.... i don't blame you, no telling what she has.
