Good episode with the way it is set up. This is my first time getting used to the franchise (besides the manga) so hopefully see some good stuff. ED song is good.

Well, not bad, but not really my kinda thing. (Liked the "retro noses" though!

)

I may give one more ep a try, but unless I get totally blown away I don't anticipate picking this one up....

What's up with the Pinocchio nose? And those mickey mouse ears? LOL

That was a fun and light hearted episode. I had fun watching the whole episode. On my watch list

It's pretty rare nowdays to have a cast, where most voice actors has started their career back in 80th or earlier.

There's a few modern voice actors, like Mamoru Miyano, but majority are veterans. I think last time I saw something like that was Saint Seiya Omega.

That would be (Kaito's) creator, Gosho Aoyama's art style. Very elongated profile noses & big ears.

You can see the same design in his characters for Detective Conan, his most successful work.

fun But i was disappointed that was Scene by scene Detective Conan Special: Secret of the Birth of the Kaito Kid" I watched in 2010

Yep, this is based on the manga. Also, Gosho is coming out with more chapters to celebrate the anime so this should be markedly longer than the previous OVA's. It may/may not also have extra content with the earlier episodes.

Well, this is going to be much longer, so I expect it to deviate drastically eventually from the series of OVA's hopefully before they get to episode 12.

But it's refreshing with new VA's anyway.

Great, fun first episode. This will be another series that I love.

Some one explain to me how this guy has a secret identity His first name Kaito like his Thief Name Kaitō Kiddo . And everyone knows he is a good, magician like Kaitō Kiddo

I must admit for some years I thought the name was Kaitō kid

simple, Kaito live near detective most of his life not to mention he was kid when first Kaito kid was active and have alibi when this new kaito start showing up.

I guess his father name him after his second persona name?

Because it's a ridiculous and outlandish theory to think that the real Kaito Kid is associated with someone whose real first name is Kaito.

That would be silly of Kaito. Also, this is anime--so of course this is the case.

Simple. The Kaito in Kaito Kuroba and the Kaito in Kaito Kid use different kanji. Aoyama uses this trick with a character in Detective Con too.

Also its a staple of the Phantom Theif genre to do things like that.

Read the manga... god, years and years ago, when I was still following Conan. Good times. Loved both of these series. If it wasn't for that, the premise would probably not have attracted me today (considering that I seem to have permanently given up on Conan since it's just toooo long and it's too much effort to try and pick out just the main story bits). It's well worth checking out att he very least, though.

Watching mostly for the nostalgia, but also to see if the story can hold my attention nowadays. So far, it's quite enjoyable. Nice to see Aoko and Kaito again

It's also getting 24 episodes + more manga content so I see this as a good sign. Now that Conan will be ending soon I hope that this means that we will be getting a lot more of this.

The kid is an obvious prankster.
Guess he's not that much different from his dad.
Except the truth about his father shocked him.
He was fast to accept his new career.
It's fine, but not my thing.
