I'm sorry... but researching ways to turn a dangerous virus into something not dangerous but helpful is horribly illegal? And that's a fact?

You got a source on that?

When you've got a bunch of balls of flesh that used to be people on storage in one of your company's buildings, and you happen to be a high-ranking CEO, I'd say a bit.

Good intentions, I agree, but methods of research, not so much.

Oh, the way he's doing it is illegal, yes. But the idea itself isn't.

At least it's not as dumb as using teen angst to stave off entropy...

Both are dumb. The virus might lead to a Biohazard apocalyse and is worse as people can get the virus without any required condition if I remember correctly. Imagine teens and people with ego getting the virus and you will have a Hokuto no Ken style world.

Not everyone is suited to the virus tough. The reason Dego and Marty were raiding villages and town was because they were searching for people suitable to be candidates to EC-Drivers. Most people simply die from EC-infection but those who survive obtain a cool set of incredibly broken powers ...along with insanity and a death sentence xDU.

You know about outbreak films. The company gets their hand on the virus, tweak it so that most can be infected and not die with it but the virus either got leaked out or the company used some place to test it and you will have a perfect biohazard. Welcome to this crazy time!

The way I see it, the virus might mass produce Tyrants instead. The Raptors are at most zombies or hunters.

A dam might break flooding the city it powers, a nuclear reactor might go into meltdown irradiating the city it powers. And these two can't be cured, unlike a virus.

Are there dangers? Yes, but medical research always has dangers. A cure is already being researched, and if eclipse can be turned into a powersource you're turning something that used to destroy lives into something that saves lives, which is about the best possible result you can get.

Knowing men, the thing might be used to manufacture powerful soldiers as well since they have anti-magic capabilities. Always two sides to things though.

There's also the possibility that all of this "we'll sutdying Eclipse to found a green energy source" is just the marleting campaign of Vandin Corp. with the purpouse of justifyng their investigations on the Eclispe for their own greedy agenda.

There's that, too. Wouldn't be the first time someone used good intentions to disguise selfish greed.

Plus he was toying with that Divider all sinister-like. He's probably just some corrupt corporate bad guy, sadly.

Think Umbrella in Nanoha world. Who invented the virus must really have hated magic as it is made to kill them. Or he just hates human beings as the virus will force them to kill others to survive.

Well, Mr. Vandin did a comment about "changing society" after all. So yeah, more probably he has more meaningfull intentions than just make money.

More than make money, they just want to bribe the Bureau.

Now I'm thinking of the CEO of the Jupiter mission from Planetes and Pariston from HunterxHunter. And well, can't forget Wesker.

My point is, corrupt business men are only memorable when they act as such. And you don't get there only through making silly faces and laughing about death. They have to prove that they really are ruthless, greedy, /and/ unafraid. I mean seriously, seriously crazy, not half way there like Quattro was.

So, waiting for your move Mr Vandin.

I don`t remember anything about energy crisis in Nanoha...
In many countries, they use Nuclear energy because that`s the best option they had, not because it`s the greatess.
Going after such dangerous source of energy sounds weird if there is no real need for it.
Unless it`s CW that wants that as a power source for the Raptors.

I agree with Aki, it`s just a cover.
By VC and CW, of course !

Energy has been brought up as an issue before--namely, Precia's reactor project that killed her daughter and kickstarted the whole franchise's events.
