So, just watched episode 3. That was great. To be honest, I didn't like the OP (songwise) much the first time I heard it, but the second time around was surprisingly more bearable. Perhaps I might even grow to enjoy it over the course of the series.
Speaking of the OP/ED though; the ED isn't sung by the cast this time, is it? That seems kinda rare for Shaft, as in their shows I've watched they often like to make use of their voice talent. I really like it though; the ED seems perfectly suited to the mood of this series, so it is quite nice to listen to. Anyway, the thing that's really surprised me over the past two episodes is how solid a romance this is becoming, despite all the gags and the sheer craziness of the characters. The somewhat philosophical intro we've had these past two episodes have done a great job of setting a mood. Ric's determination this episode, that despite all his effort, if his plan 'doesn't make [Nino] happy, it's not perfect at all' was quite touching. At the start of the series, I somewhat rolled my eyes at the idea of a bizarre pretty girl suddenly telling the protagonist she wants to be his lover, but beyond all expectations, two episodes later, their developing relationship is quickly becoming a great part of this show's appeal. Haha, and of course, the humour continues to deliver. Hoshi's jealousy is really something, and Sister continues to be epic. What really nearly made me spit out my drink, though, was Nino's excuse for not leaving the river: "There's plenty of places I'd love to go, but, y'know, gravity..." lol; the absurdity. "Gravity and magnetism", huh? :P Nino, that's some bullshit you're spouting there. |

I was originally turned off to this show mostly because the only character I saw was Star. But Watched the first three earlier and this show is quite quirky, it has an interesting charm.
I don't know if I'll stick around for the entire season if the Romance doesn't develop though. It'll probably be a love-hate relationship with this show for me. |

Yeah, I thought it was hinted pretty strongly this episode as well. Ric himself noted that 'Venus' usually seemed to come up when Nino wants to avoid/get out of something...that means he's already noticed that it's more of an excuse than something she actually believes in.

Heh... as Ric is a rich boy that stumbled under the bridge and pretend he's poor just like the residents are... (since he's living 90% of the times under the bridge in that "house"...)
Nino (wonder what her real name is...) is most likely a rich girl that also stumbled under the bridge and stayed there to forget all about what ever hard ship she had before. |

I couldn't stop laughing with her absurd excuse for not leaving the river, and how she misinterpreted Ric's way to show her what a date is. |

Episode 3
Maybe my sense of humor is different but…I wouldn’t call episode 3 the funniest episode so far (as I have seen many people call it), for me that title goes to episode 2. However this episode was very enjoyable. - The beginning of the episode was amazing. The images and the music were great, Ric looked so handsome and his words were so deep. Great way to start the episode! - The OP song…wasn’t as annoying but I can’t still bring myself to watch the whole opening… - The confessional part of the episode was pretty funny, Star, Recruit and Sister made me laugh a few times. - Maybe it’s just me but…I liked Nino’s plans for the date better than Ric’s plans. So I was glad that in the end they decided to go with Nino’s plans and yes Nino looked very pretty in that pink dress. - What Ric said right before the ending started made me even more curious about Nino and her life before Ric. Mmmmm....maybe she is in fact a rich girl who decided to rebel against the superfluousness of that world by living under a bridge? Mmmm... no, that can't be, that is way too complicated of a storyline...XD

I don't think she had a mental breakdown, she seems far too sane for that. The rich girl hypothesis sounds more plausible to me and makes sense if she's the type of girl who doesn't want a life of luxury and prefers a quiet, simple life.

Apparently episode 4 ran a little over time. If you want to see the cold open and the third part of the episode, that is possible. The two segments are very short, so the majority of the episode is still airing.
