That missed call is a bit of an embarrassment for Platini's legion of referees.
Quote:
I mean their only goal came for triple deflection, I mean seriously, how fluky can you get? What's next? Buffon does a goal kick, and due to a strong gust of wind it ends in the Italian goal.

Considering Chelsea got a similar call in FA Cup final (less controlversial as the photo was unclear, but the hawkeye view showed it crossed the line), before winning the CL.... I guess England stand a really good chance on winning this now.
Did i mention that Chelsea also unexpectedly top the group stage in the last round of CL (due to Genk somehow drew with Bayern Leverkusen)? So my prediction:

Come on, I support England but this is insane...goal line technology please...can't wait to see Platini's excuse this time...this is really getting lame...I don't mind having both the technology and the extra assistant at the same time if Platini really wants to create an extra job to someone XD

Yeah, that disallowed goal was just really bad. Sure, the striker is offside, and you can argue that two wrongs make a right...what you can NOT argue is the fact that out of the two calls to be made, the referee was WRONG on both counts. And at this high a level of competition, it's simply unacceptable.

To be fair they were the better team in the first half of the first half but Portugal were so much better in the 2nd half (Czech Republic never really had a chance) Still well done by the Czechs for holding out so long due to some good saves by Cech and very poor finishing on Portugal's part. They should really stop with those long range shots.

Indeed Endless Twilight, against Spain or France they will only five chances at best and one those have to go in if Portugal wants to have a chance.I admit normally I prefer Germany to go through but I'll be fully rooting for the Greek underdog.

This is gonna get interesting. Obviously, the German trainer will bench Gomez, Podolski and Müller against Greece, and will instead field Klose, Reus and Schürrle.
For those not familiar with German football: This is probably the most aggressive option he can pull. We should expect a Greek concrete style defense, they will be parking the bus in front of the goal. Let's see if the new offensive line will manage in breaking it down |
