How many of these VN were made into anime? 2 seasons of ef, that's about it.

By the way, I'm not trying to call you out. Far from it. It just seems that you have the wrong impression of this show and should give it a try before passing judgement on it.

Nowhere near that dark. This is like something noitaminA would've shown five years ago.

They feature quite a lot in VNs don't they? Ef, Narcissu, Katawa Shoujo, etc.
Narcissu is an exception, but Katawa Shoujo doesn't count because it's by Americans. All the other VN examples I can think of follow the Key formula, where the girl has an illness that makes her vulnerable and super moe, but has no other effect on her life unless you get a bad ending.

Anime of the season right here if adapted well. Damn, I want to see this animated so much.

Oh thank God I didn't go much further in the manga. I mean, I got pretty far, but I knew it was 'anime adaptation bait' somewhere along the way and forced myself to stop.

But yeah, if anything, this reminded me of AnoHana more than Aku no Hana; instead of whatever broke the group dynamic of Super Peace Busters, replace it with bullying, and that pretty much sums up Koe no Katachi for me. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if Okada is going to be one doing the scripts, as the way the story is handled is something the pre-Wixoss Okada would've done.

In any case, this is by far the best news I have heard of an anime adaptation in a long while. While I did talk about Okada as the script writer, I do think the success of this adaptation would lie more on the director, as a good deal of the conversations are done with sign language. And for that, I have no clue who I even want to have a go at this series.

Nagai Tatsuyuki seems the logical choice to me (speaking of AnoHana). Maybe Aoki Ei, or even Mochizuki Tomomi.

Kana Hana is everywhere. There are enough good seiyuus. Stop fanboying.

I'll concede that scoring a director like Mochizuki Tomomi would deserve a mighty check-in.

I thought people could spare her? But I don't keep tabs on seiyuu shindigs.

I'll fanboy if I want. Kana Hana is fitting for Shouko to me.

Sweet lord, my only wish is that if this adaptation comes to pass is for Okada to get lost on an island when the production team searches for an scriptwriter.

There was a time when I would have said Okada would be a very good choice here. Her work with Hourou Musuko, for example - a series which is not wholly lacking in tonal similarities with Koe no Katachi - was exemplary. But I'm not sure if that Okada exists anymore, and the source material here is strong enough that I'd just as soon see it in safer hands. Basically, it doesn't need to be adapted by a genius - just a writer smart enough not to screw it up.

If the anime rumor proves to be true, of course...

You don't get it. Shoko wont say anything for most of the time. So any seiyuu she get (assuming if she get any) will be inaudible :3c

Sounds like Kaji Yuuki's ideal role.

You could essentially cast any VA with the tone you want for Shoko since her voice is muffled and mostly inaudible anyway.

Pretty much.

As much as I'm not a fan of Nagai, he definitely fits for this kind of series as Director.
