I think it's very obvious that the first image you posted is official, i mean it's Mikimoto Haruhiko's style, right down to the backgrounds. A Macross fan should be able to tell this.

Also, the image you posted first is also from the DVD.

Many would demand just retribution for this bit of fail, but, I'm not familiar with Mikimoto Haruhiko at all, nor any of the artworks. Apart from Frontier, the original TV series and DYRL, I haven't watched any other Macross series, and I'm probably more familiar with the names involved in the production of the Frontier series( and of course, Ohnogi. ) Mecha and I usually end in a disastrous affair, so in the end, it's best for me to, uh, leave it alone and focus on the tidbits in the series that makes the heart of a woman flail.

Going by the fact that Sheryl is going to be a spy in the movie... maybe he was trying to get Sheryl to reveal her secrets by threatening her? That's the only possible explaination as to why he might be violent to Sheryl, kinda OOC of Alto to do that

urrrhh...the new pictures released in this month's magazine are certainly disturbing the ideas I had already started to make up in my mind about the movie ^^;;
Seems like the changes, compared to the series, might end up being more serious then what I had imagined...
On the other side, I still believe Sheryl will be focused on quite a lot, considering all the material, spoilers and CM we were fed with these past months and, even without going so far, the title itself of the movie (the false diva) couldn't have made it any clearer ^^;

I do not believe in SherylxBrera, it's just no happening, the triangular relationship is one of the highlights of the series and it certainly doesn't seem like they have any intention to get ride of it.

As for SherylxAltoxRanka....I'm still siding with Sheryl for tons of reasons which I won't list, I'm sure you guys must have read countless ramblings from fans the past year, still, my own POV got certainly nothing to do with what will actually happen in the movie, so I wouldn't say Ranka is done for either. My last word will then be: "expect the unexpected" :P

I'll spin it with a he hurt her a bit while pushing her to the ground and spending a wonderful night with her . Realistically speaking, There nothing that frustrates me more then somebody who can't solve things without violence, I really hope nothing really happens.

Me too actually. He was not a bad character, just underused and under-appreciated.
