I couldn't be sure Kyousogiga had legs before this week - could it function as a story above and beyond the fragmented genius we saw in the ONA and shorts? The answer is yes - this, for me, is the clear best show of the season so far. Toei is channeling Gainax at their best with this one.

Good episode, this episode turned the themes of the show up on its head.Previously I always thought that the series was basically suggesting how being trapped in your own escapist illusion isnt such a bad thing after all, this episode was a complete denial of that idea.
I would also say that closest comparison to this anime in terms of themes is probably Dennou Coil ,as it too tries to define the line between imaginary and real with the cast of imaginative kids acting as sort of lenses for this world. It seems that they also have the same message.

Ok, this is weird.
On the other hand it does kinda make sense too.
The priest created a world where he wouldn't be judged.
I bet a lot of people wished they had the same power.
But it looks like even make belief worlds have their problems..
This looks ok, but I'm just not feeling it so I'm gonna drop it.

Um. Wasn't the magic hammer Bishamaru's property? Why does Koto have it from the start now?

That was excellent. The first episode cleared up mostly everything that was a bit confusing about the ONA, and it looks like the next one will tell us about Koto (the young one). I hope they'll keep a little bit of mystery though. Don't explain everything in the first two episodes.

Everyone's talking about that on /a/. Most agree it's probably a retcon.

That's a pretty good idea, expect that the little sphere Inari gives Koto at the beginning of the episode seems to be the hammer....

Spoiler for picture:

See, it has the same colors.

Welcome to Abenobashi.

I really liked it but I hope it gets some of its CRAZY back in the next episodes.

It all makes sense now!
I'm loving this anime so far! The animation, the characters, the storyline, it's pretty unique!

Yeah it's beginning to make sense and it's so good! This 'first' episode is really great story-wise and visually nice as expected. Lady Koto was lovely in this episode.
I saw a staff list on 2ch, I don't know if it's legit but next episodes should be directed by Toei veterans (excepted episode 2) so it should be solid. That's kinda fun when mostly of the episode directors are twice the director's age.

Maybe Inari stole it from Mirror Kyoto before he gave it to Koto?

really like the strangeness of it all! how it's so different from the other animes. So now we get to understand things a bit more, but I'm a bit confused with the wall of computer screens. Is that the outside world or still inside Mirror Kyoto?

and what does Koto mean by coming to look for her guardian......? is the guardian the black rabbit?

I'm sad this doesn't seem to be getting any attention here. This is the best anime Toei has put out in years.
