(CR) Cobra the Animation

Cobra is very known space pirate, but decides to change his face and to clear all his memories. He becomes a common guy, with a common job, and a very boring life, but suddenly he starts remembering his true identity and new adventures begin.

There isn't a thread on the the new Cobra series so why not.

Alright, I saw the first episode and initially was not sure that I was gonna stick with this. The art style isn't really for me. The opening starts with some mysterious Key of Shiva, a flying pterodactyl looking plane, cheesy Christmas music, and the granting of a bikini babe wish.
I know Cobra is a classic and I really wanted to like it off the bat but his character at the beginning really, really irked me. Plus the fact that every woman I saw walked around skimpily clad with their breasts and butts busting out didn't help.
The only thing that kept my interest was the plot which seemed halfway interesting. A planet on collision course with the sun? A key with unknown usage? Sounds fun.

OP "Cobra the Space Pirate" by Sasja Antheunis is pretty nice. While the oldish art doesn't thrill me, the oldish music style does. Just what I'd expect from an action show like this.
ED theme was pretty nice and not what I expected after sitting through the torturous visuals. "Kimi no Uta" by Shigeru Matsuzaki.

This series is quite interesting but surprised to see nobody commenting on it.

The first few episodes are packed with lots of action, but I think that episode 8 has overdone it a little. It is bit too creepy for me.

I have not read the comics and have very hazy memory of the older animation: Was Cobra's lady partner always "off-screen"? I was disappointed that they did not feature more of the character despite being so prominently shown in the opening and ending credits.
