(L+CR) Photo Kano

Look, I want to like Photo Kano, but it's so blatantly disrespectful to woman that I have to cringe, many times in the anime. There's alot of ugly male chauvinistic overtones in this show.

This anime is very strange. The story tries putting the MC in the best light possible (which still does not absolve all Kazuya's issues) and yet he is still probably among the top perverts in the show. If he keeps going in this direction, he is going to keep exploiting the perks of his hobby, continue to become more unlikable, continue getting more comfortable blackmailing people (maybe a future as a career politician is up his alley since he's off to a great start) and find himself less at odds with other members of his club. After all, the more he becomes like them, the more of a hypocrite he is and even he'll eventually realize it (if not already). So his "resistance" to their methods will become "token resistance" and eventually he'll just become okay with it. Yuck.

Photo Kano 03 - A Club for One

I'm not seeing anything all that different from Amagami here. That series had all those unorthodox kissing positions and the feeding play and all sorts of other things, and the tone of this series is nearly identical.

So now Rinappai gets quite screen time after she almost disappear completely on episode 2.

With 3 episodes aired so far, it looks like it does lead to Haruka end with her always have more screen time than other girls every episode. Aki, Nonoka, Mai, and Hikari did always show up too but not as long as Haruka. Wonder when if we'll get after school date event.

Mai's expression on the eps 4 preview is so wrong, it looks like she is the pervert, lol. And where's my weekly dose of pouting girl on this episode? :T

Not feeling 'amusement' is the right word. It's more like he wanted to try to take many kind of pictures to find the kind of picture he's happy and proud with. But yeah, that includes sexy shoots like from that ecchi magazine, on the game he said he wanted to do 'gravure-poi' or gravure-ish photo. There's quite number of gravure model that still on high school, so I think that's.... kinda normal in Japan (minus the blackmailing, of course )

And when blackmailing Aki, I don't think he is that serious wanting to humiliate her. For once he didn't even think what will he do if Aki still reject to do the photo shoot. It was thanks to the victim herself he got the idea, which I don't believe he would do it. It's more like he's trying his luck, if Aki still doesn't want to he'll probably leave her be. Though that's the impression I get from the game counterpart with more dialogues that was cut on the anime ^^

It was harder to defend him when he said, "I'll protect Niimi-san's underpants!" instead. It just hilariously wrong XDD

But still, sometimes I wonder why on some anime they're fine showing swimsuit, bikini, bloomers, and/or tennis wear's underpants but it's not fine to show a normal underpants? Like on Amagami, Ai showed Junichi her swimsuit under her skirt like it was nothing, wasn't that just as revealing as showing your underpants?

Because anime logic. I remember back on Love Live episode 2 or 3 where Kotori shows Umi the outfit they're wearing, which Umi objects to because the skirt is too short......as she looks down at her school uniform's skirt, which shows about as much, if not, more leg.

Junichi is actually a likeable male protagonist that you really root for in each scenario whose friend (Umehara) may be a bit perverted, but in a normal sense, so you don't fault him for it, but is otherwise normal. I mean, I've seen quite a number of people actually hoping that Umehara could've ended up with Keiko (Kaoru's friend).

As for those other scenes in Amagami, the main difference is that each of the girls that he does it with actually give Junichi permission to do them (and even enjoy it in Haruka's case with the feeding) and doesn't require any blackmailing. It may, at best, feel a little awkward to some people, but with Photo Kano, it just feels wrong because of Kazuya's own actions leading up to it.

Junichi was a pervert as well but as you said, it's treated in the "this is just guys being guys" sense. With Kazuya, porn/ecchi/horny girls are like, an entirely foreign concept, being thrown at him full force, which he's oblivious to. It's really annoying to watch.

Ugh, the beginning of episode 3... accidental kissing and boob grabbing in the span of a few minutes. It's probably weird for a guy with a To love-ru avatar to complain about that, but this isn't what I expected from this show. I thought it'd be a bit more refined and not riddled with harem clichés. This doesn't have an ounce of the charm Amagami had. Maybe I just had the wrong idea about this anime.

I don't blame you for your response Kanon. I think at this point, if they actually showed something like TLR instead of being teases, the show would be more relevant and popular IMO. I think they over-selling what the series is about by putting all routes in each episode, and would've sold better if they took seperate routes for a certain amount of episodes, then change to another.

Dear God, I had to pump myself up to watch this episode crossing my fingers that it's actually gonna be good and I get that pathetic piece of crap on the very first scene. If nothing else this show can do a damn good job in utterly destroying expectations.

And then it was just one crappy scene after another. Well that's not entirely true: There were two short moments where I thought they'd actually go an interesting route with the Student Council President but then it went back to being utterly unbearable again.

At this point I'm really only into this show out of obligation and at this rate that might not be enough. XP

Ya this is definitely the most disappointing show of the season, I wasn't expecting a high quality show by any means but it still managed to shatter those low expections.

Ugh, i can't stand this show anymore. It just . . . doesn't have the same charm as Amagami does. I do not really mind seeing cliched, overused harem antics, but when they're executed in so horribly manner, e.g. the MC ran into several girls and taking advantage of their situations (albeit unintentional) continuously without pause, definitely succeeded in killing my urge to watch further. The girls are indeed cute and interesting to watch, but their interactions with the MC are mostly boring and pretty much one-sided, far cry from Amagami's MC who actively engage with each girls.

Also, if it's not the camera fetish with the MC and the club, it's the camera fetish with the graphics giving curved close ups to each of the girls :S. I mean sheesh, I've only seen weird close up angles like that in yandere shows.

The third episode is at least better than the second. I didn't like, how it started, but I will here and then follow this series to see, if it will get more serious and maybe more professional.

Rinappai saved the episode and Sanehara should get more screentime since she's the only who takes 'normal' photos and can provide technical aspects.
I still don't know if the main character is a nice guy or mischievous.
