Gaara, Naruto, and Lee. We can get two huge beasts out and at the same time Lee can go 5 gates on and even a hokage level ninja would have a hard time fighting that team.

Orochimaru's a Hokage level ninja and I think he could kill all three of them in .10 seconds.

Hmm I'd have to go with Shika, Ino, and Sakura. Now most of you are probably thinking "ok shika for his intelligence, but wtf is Kamui smoking to put Ino and Sakura on the team?!!" It's really quite simple, Sakura is skilled in one area and one area only, recognizing genjustu. her job will be to prevent Ino from being affected. Shika will of course plan everything out and use kagemane to distract the enemy, while Ino gets into position to use her mind tranfer jutsu thing. She takes over the target's mind and the mission is over. This team may seem weak, and it is, but it also best fits the mission.

That team is horrible, I think they'd be screwed if they fought more than one person at once. Which I'm sure in a A rank mission, you would have to.

I'd go with Neji, Sasuke and Naruto.

Nice replies guys. Thanks for challenging your imagination a bit =) Interesting to hear the responses considering what information was given. My personal choices would go kind of like this:

Sasuke= Sharringan is always handy, its ability to see through Genjutsu is a necessity. His taijutsu and utility have also been exceptional in the series. Sasuke would be the lead man.

Haku= Great analytical skill and speed between DIM transfers would allow Haku to possibly avoid Kakashi or at least keep him busy until the location of "Mange" is discovered.

Kimmaro= Durability, his job would be just to act like a tank in the case that any other "slaves" are a factor in the battle. The kid can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.

Ooop gotta run, the hole I see in my team would primarily be a way to deal with an S class Genjutsu master. My plan would be to attack with speed, hopefully break the "artifact" as quickly as possible and hope that would free Kakashi.

Well,bascially,if their opponent was an §-class criminal,Sasuke and Haku wouldn't stand much of a chance,and would proberbly get killed before they actually did anything usefull? And as for Kimimaro,i think he bascially falls under the 'Jounin' skill level.But then again,if it were Kimimaro going up against an §-class,would be (*roughly*)Kimimaro going against Orochimaru?Anyways,great thread.

If I can (because Gaara is from sand village) i would send:
Gaara (because hi's my favorite and very strong)
Neji (because hi's fighting skills and calm personality)
Shikamaru (with resources like Neji and Gaara I can't even think what Shikamaru would come up with)
There ... my dream team.

Naruto because you don't wanna see him go all kyuubi on you and because he's closer to kakashi he'll take it more personally. In other words, he won't goof off as much when they get down and dirty. And Sasuke can't come because.. (since this is based on the manga).... well he might be busy with Oro..

then I'm torn between Lee and Neji because of their fighting skills. But if Neji doesn't get better because of his last fight, then Lee will have to go.

Shikamaru because he's the first to become chuunin and they didn't give him that title for no reason.

yah, that's my dream team. I know for sure they will get kakashi back.

Sasuke: Using Sharingan, he is the genin who is the hardest to affect with genjutsu. Quite useful if you fight against a genjutsu specialist, right?
Neji: Byakugan probably helps him somewhat against genjutsu ... anyway, he is one of the strongest genins.
Gaara: Another strong genin, besides, Shukaku probably helps against genjutsu. Apart from that, he is ranged support.

I definatly wouldn't choose Naruto. Even though he is the strongest genin overall, he is the weakest against genjutsu.

shikamaru. his intelligence is vital

gaara: he'll scare de bastard to death or just kill him with sand

temari: she's strong and she will motivate shika to do his best plus she's intelligent also

(it's clear that you can escape genjutsu true pain, sasuke who stabs himself in the leg in the oro fight, kurenai who bites her lip to escape itachi's genjutsu, shika who breaks his finger)

Heh, Kisame is an S class criminal too and so was Zabuzza (if I recall). Obviously they can be damn good but not unbeatable.

True and I'm sure there are different levels of Genjutsu. Some genjutsu you may not be able to avoid with simple physical pain. (maybe extreme physical pain) IE: Mange Sharingan, although a blood limit we have no proof that it's the only genjutsu that can alter your perceptions to such a degree.

I'd have to say Naruto, Hinata, Sakura, Lee, and Sasuke.

I put Hinata and Sakura in there not cause they're good (they suck bad) but because they make Naruto fight at his best, and when he's at his best, he's pretty tought to beat. Plus Hinata is sooooo cool. Rock Lee HAS to be in the team because his taijutsu his unrivaled and his raw stength and speed totally freaks me out. His hard work surpasses genius. Sasuke would be the leader because he's a true genius. Plus since he and Naruto are rivals they are at their best to beat each other in anything they do.

1. Naruto=Absolute strength
2. Hinata=support/will/coolest girl
3. Sakura=Naruto's love even Hinata would be better for him
4. Lee=Hard work that surpasses genius
5. Sasuke=elite Uchicha genius

That's about it, P.S. - Naruto and Hinata go great with each other.

Shikamaru - the brains
Naruto - raw power and Kage Bushin no Jutsu if heavily outnumbered
Sasuke - the guy who I would send in first. Sharingan would help to provide the rest with info
Neji - same reason as above
Gaara - well, I'd probably just let him stand back with arms folded as usual but if things get tough, then a bit of sand here and there should do

Others who might also make it into my group are Haku or Shizune because of her medical abilities, but she is probably Jounin level right?

Yes shizune is a jounin. You find out in a later arc by what she's wearing and who she's with.

Ultimate 5:

Restricted to just Leaf:

Shikamaru is team lead.
Shino for range, and intelligence.
Neji for scouting.
Naruto for extra Narutos.
Sasuke for the 1-hit kill.

Entire series:

Shikamaru is team lead.
Temari for her attack and defensive capabilities.
Gaara for killing large groups of everything.
Naruto for extra Narutos.
and a toss-up between Shino and Neji. Depends what I need that mission.
