Nice alliteration.
Kinda surprising to see the episode isn't subbed yet; luckily I could understand most of the raw by itself. Plus, it probably helps that I read the manga...

I feel like Kaiji is getting too cocky for his own good ...
I am not sure how he could lose the second round, but Kaiji winning it big ? no way it's going to happen ... he has to be return to being miserable before the next stage ... |

What? You do realize that 1 perrica is what, 1/10 of a yen? And 100 yen is about 1$? So 1 perrica is one millidollar, which would mean that 20 million perrica would be 20 thousand dollars. Divide it by all 45s and it's much but nothing compared to his debt. He's still on the bottom is still working as a slave (for now at least).

This is exactly why the Teiai corp is using perrica: pinning down the debtors with "awesome digits", but in the end, it is just punny change.
If you consider their reactions, it would arguably not be the same if it was in yen (but if the absolute value was the same, it would definitely lead to this kind of reaction indeed). Anyway, I was expecting them to finish it off already, but this episode and the last one are really taking a tad too much. At least, I savored plenty how ohtsuki was being owned big time. But honestly, they will need to tweek a bit the next arc, considering how slow they are setting things up.

bah ...
This bet's stakes are worth a fifth of his debt. After sharing with his fellow slaves, he'll be left with only a 30th of his debt (I was aware of that), but it's definitely not chump money. I was thinking Kaiji should be put into despair to take part into those unofficial games (I forgot addict Kaiji from ep1), but here I see his situation improving significantly. He has even a good sum to money to gamble now. Gifted as he is for this, he could take a day off, gamble a lot in an official gambling parlor and cover a major part of his debt in a single day. Wasn't it was he was trying to do at first ? Get a day off and win it big ? He fulfilled all the conditions for this. But no, he is gonna lose most of it in a unofficial rigged game elsewhere. He wouldn't be Kaiji otherwise. Last edited by Rahan; 2011-05-27 at 09:31. |

He can be really good at what he does but he is of course a flawed individual instead of a "gambling god". And if he has to cheat to win, then so be it. Especially because his enemies are also cheating. Quote:

He can win, and is going to leave that shithole, and still be in a miserable position if he needs to escape Teiai. So kaiji winning this time doesnt mean he's out of troubles yet
Awesome episode. How much trouble do you think Outsuki is going to make with the 2nd round? My friend thinks it wont go as smooth but I think its not so significant |

The best part about that was seeing his reasoning and how confident he was in it, despite its blatant absurdity. I guess he expected the crowd to start chanting with him or something. Hilarious scene.

Spoiler for Akagi:
So it doesn't surprise me the weakest points of both series are the parts where they are really reaching to have something happen. Anyhow best scene has got to be the rope from the heavens. I just re-watched it to laugh.
