There's a pretty good image from the novels that is almost like an advertisement page for ALO that explains what each race is good at. I'd post it here but it would probably just be taken down as "spoilers."

Anyway I'm happy we're into ALO arc now and doubly happy that Pixie Yui has made her appearance, I've been waiting for that.

I enjoyed this episode nice start into the ALO game, and the pacing is really nice this time around, even though I was one that didn't mind the pacing of the SAO arc myself.

Alfheim literally means land of the elves anyways right?

Right, it's an actual place in Norse Mythology. The concept of the nine races probably also came from there.

Probably because the author never expected his story would continue into another game when he first started, I reckon. Anyhow, at least the characters are connected, and this series is more about characters with the games as a setting. I think it's also fair to say they probably retained this title in the actual publications since the series started from SAO in a major way, rather than trying to come up with a cool title which retains its semantics 100% across the series.

For one thing, I never expected Lyfa to look so well endowed in the anime :O (ok granted, I never paid much attention to the illustrations in the novel, so I didn't know/remember).

A-1 stays true to the LN, the size is (or looks) about the same as LN illustrations
If Alfheim was created with Norse mythology in mind, the world tree is Yggdrasil.

I'm not super happy about the annoying little girl being back. I hope we don't have to put up with her the rest of the anime ಠ_ಠ

I feel that there might be an alternative to why they still have their abilities. For the more sinister perspective, I'm guessing that the old developers of Sword Art Online are also a part of ALfheim online. They may want the same skill set in order to better control the world or do whatever evil deeds they planned. Also, in that case, they could have purposefully held Asuna prisoner and in a coma for their own purposes.

The other perspective is that they need to preserve the data of those in comas. To do this, they needed to maintain as much of the data as possible for the separate individuals still stuck online.

Badass Kirito is the best Kirito.

The updated fighting music, fitting to the new enviroment is fits very well.

The first half of the ep was a bit slow to start with, but definitely made perfect by the last 10 minutes. Oh Kirito you damn cheater. I wonder if there's gonna be a fair fight in ALO when he's around...

This.

And also because, as you can see, the server from ALO was copied from SAO, so it still has much to do with SAO

For the episode: Quite nice episode with a reeeeeaaaallly well pace...although I saw a slow pace incoming that was quite surprising

And Yui is back ^^ this time as cute pixie, who is as already pointed a living Navi xD

Lyfa and Recon both were nice, just as I imagined them from acting to speaking.

Kirito like always badass with himself accepting that he got from beater to cheater

I think few players would keep their old Nervgear, let alone put it on again voluntarily. Kirito seems to have kept his almost as a memento. He regards it with some fondness, as he has good memories of his time in the game despite everything.

I could see some other SAO players trying a new virtual mmo eventually, but most of them would probably buy the new system first. So they wouldn't encounter the same bug.

I had thought that Kazuto would be a bit more hesitant with putting on the NerveGear again or at least consider buying the new hardware particularly if it has enhanced "security" (maybe it doesn't have the brain frying capability, would be quite nice, wouldn't it?)
And he even happily kills other players right away. After learning that the game is basically a copy of SAO - can he be sure that it isn't one of the 300 who are still trapped?

I agree, that it would have been nice if he had involved some more people from the SAO crew like Klein & Co. instead of going at it all alone - but who knows, maybe this is yet to come.

Nonetheless, nice seeing the new world and I'm curious where it goes from here

I think that is exactly what will come. Because Kirito can log out of this game, I expect him to confirm that Asuna is really trapped inside the game and then log out to recruit a rescue team from among the SAO players that can best help him free her.

Spriggans (Kirito's race) is from Celtic mythology. Sylphs (Lyfa's) were invented by Paracelsus.

Though the Norse did have nine world.

There are thousands of players logging in and out of ALO. They're not going to come into contact with the 300 that easily, or their fate wouldn't be "mysterious". In fact, we don't even know that the 300 are in ALO at all. For all we know, the birdcage with an Asuna lookalike inside is just Sugou being creepy. The last update may have brought a Kirito-faced mob somewhere.

Flying is such a fun way to save someone (though I think it's the only way to save Asuna). god damn Kazuto is just awesome, reminds me of a game I play where I purposely wear noobish gear and help real noobs from getting bullied

More to the point, an SAO veteran who still can't log out would be putting themselves in a position where they're fighting other players. Seriously, why the heck would such a person be participating in voluntary PvP?
