Letīs not get into superdetails. I wasnīt talking after all about the resolution in the first place, just stating that the RAWs on Tokyotosho, which had been so far released for volume 6 were suspiciously small size.

I could go for a Macross Quarter figure, to go with my poor old Macross SDF toy (sadly missing all the missiles ). I could handle being te same scale, but I'd rather have the detail.
However, given what appears to be the prices on current posables ($160?), I can imagine a fully transformable MQ would be expensive. |

I just got my copy of Macross Ace today from Amazon JP (YAY). I have to say that it's definitely worth getting if you like Macross, Frontier esp. The manga are great but I think what makes the mag worth it are of course the macross-centric articles. They also feature a whole bunch of pics and info on upcoming macross merchandise. Finally we can see what the Frontier Soundrops will look like. There will be 2 sheryl, 2 ranka, 1 alto and 1 brera. From the picture one of the Ranka's will say "Minna dakishimete ginga no hate made" and one of the sheryl's will say "atashi no uta o kike". so yay! Another thing that stood out was the comic ad for the new Ranka and Sheryl Racing ver. itasha that just came out last week.
It's quarterly so it's not too bad on the wallet. The other Macross Frontier book that also came out was the Official Fanbook. I think it's much better than the Memories 2059 one. In my opinion it's the best Macross Frontier artbook out to date. It comes with a Sheryl and Ranka pull out poster. It has all the images that were previously printed in Animedia as well as images from the ending sequences from ep 16 and 19. It also has some cool character design pencil images (esp. for sheryl! which were sadly missing in the macross f red and blue sketchbooks!) |

To be frank, Official Files are just the general digest book of the series. Meaning, there will be not much artwork in the Official Files. More like 75% infos about the series that we already know. Oh and some interview with the 3 main seiyuus and Kawamori are present in Official Files #2. Small section for Characters Rough Design and Comments from the designer are there too (I LOL-ed at Luca being designed like a cupid and how the designer freaked out when Alto is practically asked to be designed like a girl! ), but really small. Mechas design and Vajras design, if I recalled correctly, also present in the book. Some of comments here and there. There are some pinups though, but they all are the cleaned version of those who have already appeared in NEWTYPE magazine. So, yes, there are some pinups/arts, but you can already get it from the net. No new art as far as I can tell though. I would say that Official Files are only good for those who are hardcore fans of Macross Series, but if you want a new infos or art, I don't think you should buy it. Better buy the Official Fanbook, which is rather interesting since it contains the rough/sketch character-design
