U19 (Under Nineteen)

Quote:
The juvenile action series centers on boys who live under adult rules.
Also known as Under Nineteen.

First chapter is out. Pretty fun start so far. We got a society where adults rules the world and the MC is kinda rebellious. Obviously, he has a thing for his childhood friend.

I think it has some potential. The plot feels a bit over the top but was entertaining for a start.

Wow, what the fuck was author thinking? It's sooo badly conceived mish-mash of various clichés and everything is so heavy-handed. It will be axed even faster than "We can't study/learn"

first chapter is out and...ok?

totally idiotic world but well..whatever i guess, i will roll with it for now,

but this series doesnt seem like one where fantasy powers have a role in it :/
more like the "in manga form written" way that all teens feel at some point in their lifes, i must admit i like that...
looks unreasonable but ok,

in any case, maybe the MC will get a split personality?
but i want his powers to have something to do with the strings

Definitely for those under 19. If you are over 19, then reading this will be a tough pill to swallow. That's my opinion of course.

A manga who defy common sense.
the whole adult vs kids theme are BS to begin with.
Remind me alot with the axed satelite, well dropped this before this get axed.

im still interested in what kind of power that kid would get

PS: if i had the chance to "create" a premise for a manga with kids as MCs i would plan it like this:

- post apokalyptic world (that isnt a wasteland, it is full of monsters/beasts and plants) created by the newest bombs created by mankind which use some fantasy super energy in order to cause non-radioactive explosions,

- MC and friends live in a abondoned town where they survive more or less but than a group of far older people appear and kill most of them, the MC fights but it left mortally wounded, the girls are captured,
and at that point the MC awakens his power (which ISNT some unoriginal armor/superstrength/negating one)...

I'll wait and see first before passing "axing" judgement.

After all, many forumers said titles like Yuuragi-sou no Yuuna, Nisekoi and Shika High's Dance Club were utter rubbish and would be axed immediately (Yuuragi's still popular, Shika had a good run. Nisekoi somehow persisted despite the lack of boobs to attract horny males).

PS. WSJ seems to be the most cutthroat magazine for anyone who wants to try publish a manga with it.

that would probably not fit into a WSJ story albeit i must admit that i think this outcome would be freaking amazing
(if the magazine of tokyo ghoul/akame ga kill still has a open spot there should definively be such a story )

Nope, they probably will get bored from lack of super powers in first chapter.

The difference is that all three you mentioned are light hearted comedies (with some ecchi (1 and 2) and hot blood (3) elements). U19 is serious, straight-forward about it's premise and thus complete failure.

Finally got around to reading it but... yeah, that was painful to read. Nothing about the setting interests me. More than half of the chapter was me playing spot the trope. Art didn't catch my eye either.

The last part of the chapter where the genetic testing took place with the (not) Nazi's and potential story direction was the only potentially interesting thing.

The target audience is definitely on the younger side of 12-18 y.o. range (specifically the edgy crowd) and that's something I just can't get on board with. So I won't make any predictions about how it'll go.

Chapter 2 was much better. Still not a fan of the children vs. adults thing (and the art) but I'm a sucker for romance and unconventional powers.

ch 2

adults are scumbags

and now i hope we will get some interesting stuff, the MC being shot with a fcking gun was already a suprise,

i would actually really like it if we find out that the city the kids live in is some sort of farm or the like (similar to neverland) and the MC+gf flee and try to destroy the adult party

U19's editor said in a recent podcast that the 1st 3 chapters link into a single storyline, meaning we'll hopefully see the story's real direction by Chp 3.

Spoiler for Chp 2 summary:

Author really fucked up. Series with superpowers and after two chapters we still don't know what are his powers.

IIRC I heard somewhere that the author wanted to do all 3 chapters in one chaüter but was forced to change it into three because of reasons...
