Well there were around 20 some episodes per season with the first Inuyasha series, so 26 doesn't seem like a bad estimate. Although I think it would take more episodes than 26 to cover whats left of the manga.

Except there were 6 or 7 seasons with the majority of episodes coming from 36 volumes of manga. Fillers obviously not included. So, assuming this new version doesn't use any fillers, with 20 volumes to work with, I'd say that's a solid 70 or so episodes. Should be anyway.

They've been running some excellent one-shots of older series in Sunday and other Shougakukan manga magazines, and this was one of them.
For those who missed, there was an awesome Ushio & Tora one couple weeks back. All the money made from tankoubon of these "Heroes Come Back" campaign volume will go towards the 2011 Earthquake relief.
