Yet again, i've made it clear that i'm not comparing it to the Chobits anime adaptation, but the original manga by CLAMP. There's a lot more in common between the two then the TV series that most people seem to think we're bringing up in this thread.

There's no "It's just too simple.". I don't know why people think that about Chobits at all. I'd love to know.

We are in an anime thread, obviously any comparison to anohter series will be based on the anime. Either way, I'll check out the manga. Perhaps then I'll be able to understand why you insist on drawing parallelism between these two show. For the life of me, I can't see it at the moment. Just to be certain, we aren't talking about similarities, are we? Goal here is to see if I can draw anything parallel to the messages these two shows try to convey.

Any chapter you want to recommend? Of course, I can always read the whole thing.

The whole thing, monir. It may not be as GAR as Sengoku Basara, but as a lukewarm fan of CLAMP, I recommend a buy. (Only piece of CLAMP canon I ever owned, MAY add CCS.)

I don't agree with that for one second, though i'll just leave it at that seeing as though you're gonna check out the manga.

Yeh, I'm really confused by that too. My guess is she's like Makoto from Ghost in the Shell - she's a cyborg, her brain preserved in the body of a robot

I'm the one who started the whole 'Chobits' thing.

Here's how I got to that.

Robots
Robots helping society (Angelic Layer - sorta)
Robots begin to become part of society
Robots begin to dominate society
Birth Rate goes down as people become less dependent on each other.
Laws against robots are formed (Time of Eve / Blade Runner)

Now once these laws are happening. we either get
Robots reject the New Laws (Terminator / The Matrix)

The New Laws are accepted and robots are dumbed down

The New laws are rejected and Society accepts robots are 'partners' (Chobits).

Now granted Chobits is a love comedy.
But it still it still touched upon important topics.
The teacher who's husband abandoned her for a robot.
The boy who misses his sister so much he creates a robot in her likeness and personality.
A parent who wants a child so bad they create 2 of them. And invest them with the most up to date technology Available (The Manager)
I am surprised that Chobits didn't touch up birth rate issues (Which should've almost hit nil) and well XXX issues, but that was sorta touched upon.

So Yes I can see how Chobits and Time of Eve are related. Chobits can happen about 100 years after Eve.

Finally got around to the last episode, and what a fantastic episode it was. Great to see how Masaki's background helped shaped his behavior and that little reunion of sorts between him and Tex was absolutely moving. The social issues it discussed and the way it forces the viewer to consider what constitutes a person is something that I can see come up once the technology becomes sufficiently advanced that the line blurs. Eve no Jikan offers a peek at what could happen and it's delightful to just be able to ponder this possibility.

A little bit of news about the series: movie time! And I was just thinking that having this series turned into a movie might give it a better chance of being licensed outside of japan, really hope it does well!

Kalafina is going to sing the theme song for the movie Time of Eve.

It's called "I Have a Dream"

As much as I love both of these two names, it's kind of hard seeing these two put together, honestly. The original series had its own great score, and hearing Kajiura and co.'s music after that isn't too appealing to me.

Yeah i can't see how it'll fit at all. I can think of a ton of different singers/composers that would be perfect for the job.

Madness.

I'm definitely looking forward to the movie. I am impressed, it's rare that a show about robots/androids evokes an emotional response from me, but episode 4 of Eve managed to get me chuckling and then made me feel bad for doing so.. pretty rare.

I also laughed at the "animated" newspapers.. what an unlikely piece of futuretech, given how quickly newspapers are dying out. I also wonder how much Eve from Wall-E inspired Tex's design? I found the tear streaks rather gratuitous, though.

It really is such a shame that there's no soundtrack release. Such a lovely charming score that i'd love to listen to over and over.

The movie will apparently open on March 6, 2010.

There will also be a manga series that will start on February 19 in Young Gangan, a fanbook (February 26), a novel (March 18) and even an "Evlend" coffee blend.
