That was brilliant. Someone must love them some City Hunter on the staff.
Plus, this is one of the few series with the balls out call itself out, in-episode and in the preview. I was laughing pretty hard though much of this. That was great. Ixion Saga really has been a brilliant series. |

I was stupid. Stupid for ever believing Ixion Saga DT would ever give a proper flashback episode. No, Kon and his cats don't count.
Yeah, it was... a weird episode. I didn't dislike it, but didn't like it as much as the others. It was amusing in itself. I did like hearing Kaji and Suzuken use those really deep voices. Was there some truth behind that BS? Maybe, but does it matter anymore? I do wish they used the episode to show off Variation's sadism instead of that though. It keeps being mentioned but never actually shown... |

the fun part about this ep's "flashback" is making the audience think how much of them is implied truth, and how much of them is pure bs.
If we strip off the city hunter appearance and setting and apply what we know about this world, would it be an accurate description? or is the whole story progression all just bs to begin with?

I just watched the ep and... basically I'm at loss of words. This was nothing short of brilliant. XD
But then, I pretty much lost it the moment Leon mentioned his favorite anime, and I kept laughing until the end. XD Also, A+ seiyuu work here, it took me a while to recognize Kaji. As for what was truth and what was bullshit - if there was any truth at all in this story, it was Leon's favorite anime. Legend of the Blue Wolves, yep, that's Leon all right. XDDD (Though I'm surprised anyone even remembers it...) It's been shown a few times, though not as blatantly as Leon's masochism. But Variation has a tendency to slip into creepy mode every now and then, like his talk with Leon about killing ants as a child (? or something along those lines), or when he was all "idiots, they don't even notice that we're watching them, ha ha ha ha HA HA HA~' Though I guess this makes him closer to kichiku than S? (wherever is the difference between the two...) Last edited by kuromitsu; 2013-03-11 at 18:58. |

Actually, thinking more deeply about this than it was probably intended - this could be a dramatization of Variation's first impression of Incognito, which is why the members' personalities are different.
Think about it. Variation was a spy/assassin (definitely not unlikely, seeing how easily he managed to corner the Princess, though the incompetence of her guards helped xD), sent to assassinate ED for whatever reason. Of course, Variation sees himself a cool, badass, Matsuda Yuusaku type guy. He meets the group that is to be Incognito. Erec, of course, is perfect, a good leader whom everyone loves. KT immediately senses him as a rival, so she's rude to Variation, and Variation first thinks of her as aggressive. Leon seems a bit weird but mostly harmless and kind of simple, so Variation thinks he's a nice guy. And Gustave lurks around in sleazy neighborhoods, and he has a kind of worldly-wise "big brother" vibe going on, so at first Variation thinks he's a hard-boiled oniisan type. After a while Variation finds, to his horror, that he is starting to like Erec, and he seems to have found a place where people accept him. So when the time comes he can't kill Erec. And even after he finds out that the other guys are not exactly how he thought they were like (KT is a drunk who gets weird when "he" drinks, Leon is very much into masochism, and Gustave is a lech, and they all keep teasing him about being young and small), he decides to stick with them. OR it went how we saw and it turned out the others had been really onto him all along. .....or this is all just BS. Last edited by kuromitsu; 2013-03-11 at 18:34. |

Honestly I went into this episode sort of apprehensively based on some comments but ended up really enjoying it.
Well Incongnito is probably my favorite part of Ixion Saga and I love those type of hard boiled detective stories Also some fantastic voice work in this episode. I don't think I ever heard Kaiji use that voice. I could barely believe it was him. And Sugita used a much softer voice than usual. I bet they had fun recording this one! So how many episodes do we actually have left?

Not sure exactly how many eps are left, but the most likely number going by the BD/DVD listings is 25. P.S. It's Kaji. You're one 'i' too much. |
