I have a Maxtor drive just like that. Does yours, by chance, like to decide "no, I'm not going to accept any more data" and stop transferring on you?
Mine did that a lot and I lost copious amounts of data from thinking it successfully transferred. I went out and bought a Seagate FreeAgent Go because of it. Never buying a Maxtor drive again.

I prefer Western Digital for drives instead of Seagate since their quality control went down ever since the Barracuda 7200.11 had firmware problems that cause massive data loss. The 750GB HD next to my monitor which is sitting on my PowerMac G3 is the Western Digital I took out from the Mybook enclosure since there are problems with heating.

Once I get to uni, mine will be about 75% cleaner. Mainly cuz I don't have as much room on the desktop (first time I used that term not meaning fat pc). But your table is actually organized...mine is not :P

Found a new lapdesk to place my Macbook Pro on... since it gets hot when I do something really intensive... Used to use a textbook just so it won't overheat, but this is better...
Spoiler for big picture:

This is during one of my cleaning times, usually it isn't this... tidy. The laptop is slightly out of place but this is the future setup for when I get a router and the laptop can utilize the wireless finally. The Centurion case housing the workhorse isn't exactly something grandiose.
Usually, the place it occupies is home to a very big loads of dishes...

Now I replaced the Macbook Pro on the table with a Mac mini G4 1.33 GHz since it wasn't a very good idea of having the Macbook Pro in clamshell mode for a long time since it gets warm and the fans seems to go with a very high speed, even if I used Coolbook (ouch). The bad thing is, the base Mac Mini model doesn't have Wifi, so I had to connect my old Linksys USB Wireless G adapter with my built in USB hub with my monitor, which works with Mac and rehooked my Firewire drives.
Computer runs fine, but can't play any H264 subs above 480p (852x480) or it will play choppy. The performance is acceptable for almost a 4 year old computer, but not faster than my Intel Macs. Spoiler for image:
My table is still messy, however.
