Looks like a bad merge of the MDD X36 and Boeing Bird of Prey UAVs, this time with a manned cockpit and twin rudders. The PRC might be trying to roll out F-22/PAK-FA and F-35 rip-offs ATM, but the idea of Iran achieving the same thing requires a leap of faith that might make Ezio Auditore turn deathly white with unfathomable terror. The last fighter plane they've domestically developed and produced IIRC, was basically a copy of the old Northrop F5 with two rudders instead of one...and now they're saying they've jumped to Generation 4.5/5.x designs? Uhm, right. They might have had secured a downed RQ170 and reverse-engineered some of its technology but I doubt they'd be entering gen 4.5/5/5.x level this soon, especially with an economy this unfavorable. ... All of this has prompted many aviation experts to label the aircraft a hoax. It's not as if this was the first time Iran tried to troll the world with propaganda, bad Photoshop and bold declarations. And, yes, it'd make sense if the aircraft whose picture is shown above is nothing but a mockup, but the size and shape (especially the cockpit area) are all wrong.

All dogs in England to get microchips by 2016:
"Dog owners who refuse to fit Fido with a microchip may someday find themselves fetching a hefty fine, the British government said Wednesday. All dogs in England will have to be fitted with microchips by 2016, authorities said, meaning that canines across the country will be chasing cars with a tiny circuit embedded in the back of their necks. Britain's Environment Department said that the chips would help reunite owners with lost or stolen pets, promote animal welfare and take the pressure off animal shelters." Doctors seek help on cancer treatment from IBM supercomputer:
"IBM's Watson supercomputer has beaten expert "Jeopardy" quiz show contestants, and its predecessor defeated a world chess champion. Now, doctors hope it can help them outsmart cancer. Oncologists at two medical groups have started to test IBM's Watson's supercomputer system in an effort to improve speed and efficacy of treatments, the company said on Friday. The Maine Center for Cancer Medicine and Westmed Medical Group will begin testing an application based on Watson's cognitive computing to help diagnose lung cancer and recommend treatment, IBM said." Help Astronomers Name Pluto’s Tiniest Moons:
"It won’t be long before Pluto’s smallest moons, now called P4 and P5, are given names worthy of their association with the god of the underworld. And you will have a chance to vote for what you think the planetary runt’s tiniest satellites should be called. “I really want this to be something the whole world can be involved in,” said ace moon-finder Mark Showalter, an astronomer at the SETI Institute. Showalter and his colleagues have designed a website, translated into 12 languages, that you can use to submit votes for your favorite names. For two weeks starting today, anyone with an internet connection can choose from among a dozen names suggested by the team." See: http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/20...tiniest-moons/ |
