Yes, either that or the messages are being sent just because Okarin and others have gone so far with their research (and the message sender doesn't know about the worldline changes/doesn't keep the memories). I wouldn't be surprised though if someone else too besides Okarin had the "reading steiner" power or could simulate the power somehow.

Spoiler for response:
Then again, he may be right all this time about the "Organization" always watching them. It could be a message from the future that was sent to him in the past to watch out for the Organization.

Just need to remind everyone that all discussion of matters not yet revealed in the anime are expressly forbidden even behind spoiler tags. All those who violate this policy will be infracted or banned. And please, game players, don't act like annoying little twits who leave little hints or subtle spoilers that show how you know more than other people. That sort of behaviour is annoying and childish. Show some courtesy for anime-only viewers, and give them the privilege or discovering things on their own without the taunting.
Comparisons to the game for matters already shown in the anime are allowed, so long as your spoiler tag is properly labeled. That means that just using a blank spoiler like this: Spoiler:
...is not okay, and is forbidden by the Spoiler Policy which says: Quote:
As I alluded to in the example spoiler above, a "clearly marked" spoiler tag should give the reader an indication of what they can expect to find within the tag. For example "comparison of episode 11 events to the game" would be useful. Something like "spoiler" or some nondescript word that doesn't explain anything are no good. Also, once an episode has been translated and released, you should not place that episode's discussion behind a spoiler tag, because it is not a spoiler. As I read through the thread I see half of the posts are discussing current episodes behind spoiler tags. Unless you watched the raw and are discussing the contents before simulcast came out, that's totally pointless and only pollutes the threads with needless extra clicks. Please understand and obey these guidelines about spoilers as you continue discussing in this thread. Please review the aforementioned policy if you are not clear, or feel free to consult myself or any other member of the staff if you have any questions. Thanks!

Nah, speculating on- and off-line, is half the fun... for some shows (ahem... AnoHana) is even more fun than the actual show
And while on the subject, let me make meta-speculate by saying Mayushii will die protecting Okarin or vice versa in the first climax... probably next episode :/ Last edited by Malkuth; 2011-06-14 at 19:41. Reason: linked image |

Well, it seems plot will be rearing its head next episode. Hoo boy.
That aside, I enjoyed this episode quite a bit; it's always cute to see that Okarin is more than his mad scientist persona, and really a very sweet guy underneath it all. His being so concerned about Mayuri near the end of the episode was also nice. It shows just how much she means to him, as one of his oldest friends. Damn, Suzuha, you got abs! I approve! The Okarin/Kurisu shipper in me was most pleased with their scenes in this episode. It's pretty funny how obvious it is that Kurisu, at least, is probably falling in love with Okarin. Will be fun to see how their relationship is handled from here, especially with things looking to take a much darker turn next week.

I'm not feeling how the episodes are ending that well. This series could have done great as several movies IMO. Ending on moments of high tension with the expectation of something lighter next episode are a bit of a grind.

Well, I am expecting someone to die for a couple of episodes now, and those two are in the mag-spread so they are going to be involved in that first climax Finally, the only non-meta clue is that that last sms is a direct threat to Okarin. In between, now that I think about it sending the threat to him, but having a decapited female doll, makes me think that Mayushii will die... going meta again it will also be more dramatic, because:

Keep in mind that in the future that Suzahu is from, Kurisu could very well be a member of SERN. That in no way conflicts with Kurisu not being a member of SERN in the present, so both girls could be telling the truth, because Kurisu is due to leave Japan in August, and if somehow she joins SERN, could possibly then relate everything she's learned to them at the time. ie: She's not technically a spy at the present, but becomes one the moment she actually joins SERN due to her relating information she gleamed before she joins SERN. This episode already clearly implied she's curious and wants to experiment, so I doubt she'd be showing any "loyalty" so to speak to Okabe if she saw a path for future experimentation once she leaves Japan.
Who knows. Or, Kurisu is a much better actress then we give her credit for, and she really is already a member of SERN. The previous idea is probably more likely though. Considering her pedigree, I'd always thought she was-or would be-a member of SERN. What was unusual was Suzahu actually saying that. While she's made a few comments that might have raised an eyebrow before, this was way beyond that. I wonder what information Suzahu knows about the present time's immediate future that she felt compelled to make a statement like that to Okarin. The thing about Suzahu is she's been pretty honest and straightforward, though Okarin has lost some of it because he isn't the audience, and doesn't suspect her from being from the future. A lot of her comments where she simply misunderstands the nature of things are done quite honestly, like this episode where she comments about being careful not to carry poison. I guess, from my perspective, I feel if Suzahu says something...it should probably be taken seriously. The impression I got from the subs is that they don't know if SERN has been watching them; Daru seems to think he's been safe, but the implication was that it might be possible. Of course, it's almost a narrative law that it does indeed mean they're being spied on. Someone mentioned a few episodes back that without the IBN 5100, none of the lab members except Okarin actually know about SERN's human experiments. So...how does Kurisu know about them? Though, to be clear, it's not made 100% clear she does. She could simply be extrapolating the jelly idea from the bananas. Probably the likely explanation, but also possible ammunition for anyone who's still suspicious of her and thinking she's a very good actress and really is already a spy for SERN. Shining Finger remains a complete enigma to me. Then again, so does the idea that you can send memories in only 36 bytes. :/ And, yes, Suzahu looked like she was talking to someone off camera during the brief scene in episode one where she was outside the "satellite" aka probably time machine. You know they would only keep that person off camera if it was going to rock our socks to its identity. I have to wonder if Suzahu knows Okarin in the future. If we assume Daru is her father...I don't see why she wouldn't. Just wondering if she was implying more than she seemed when she said "That's not like the Okabe Rintarou I know". :/ If we believe she knew him in the future, I see that as further evidence that Suzahu is NOT John Titor, though I also believe the fact that she shows up in 2010 before the first divergence event in the show already strongly hints she's not John Titor. Remember, prior to that divergence event, everyone "knew" Titor showed up in 2000. It wasn't until after that event that he shows up in 2010 and shows surprise when Okarin eventually comments about how he had "also" shown up in 2000. I wonder if there's some clue in the sender's email address and picture file name or if it's just random gibberish. That aside, the messages are a bit strange. What, exactly, is the sender trying to accomplish with messages like that. Usually you'd attribute such subject matters to friends playing a joke on you. It doesn't seem like the type of thing oh...SERN would do for instance. For all we know, the purpose of the messages might simply be to make him paranoid (in a good way). I'm still hung up on Okarin almost certainly having physically time traveled to the past at some point, based on episode one, so barring any evidence pointing to who's sending the messages, I'll go ahead and say...it's Okarin himself for now, helping his present day self by making him paranoid as hell, because he has future knowledge of what's coming up and thinks being paranoid might help. I still think Shining Finger as suspicious person. We still don't know the details of her message that she sent to past. So I think she is somehow involved with SERN. It's even possible that she sent some classified information to SERN in her message to the past. Maybe she sent something like "watch Okarin closely and his time travel experiments" to someone she know from SERN and that person is threating Okabe secretly thanks to message Shining Finger sent him. Oh lol I'm thinking too much, but shit is becoming serious with Shining Finger enough to tell that that she may be involved in what follows, anyways.
As for meta-speculation, I do agree with karuroso's comment. In the first episode we saw Kirisu shot during conference in that radio station. So it's possible that some danger may arrive for her because of her theories about time leap. Also how the heck Daru's network is connected to SERN network for whole time. That makes no sense. He really tried to hack their system so I'm still suspicous that there is someone who is using microphone phone to inform SERN and belongs to this organization. Is it really possible Kirisu is that secret agent? I don't think so. Lastly, is there nobody he can talk to about this? It's just sad when he's standing there looking spooked and can't say anything ;3 It's a bit get confusing and hard to follow up these sort of stories week by week. I'd like to watch entire series with one go though. Can't wait to see next episode, that inevitable first Climax :3

... Or alternatively, she might be a teensy little bit jealous that Okarin spends so much time with Kurisu. You never know.

Suzuha is like the person who's read ten pages farther along in the script than anyone else. And her own "Personal Best" moment was seriously hot...
