Utawarerumono Episode 26 Discussion / Poll [END]

Its all over and for once i dont feel bitter about an ending. I loved Utawarermono from the first episode all the way to end. IMO no charcter will ever be as cute as Aruruu she is definetly my number 1 choice for cutest little kid in an anime

First let me say i cant beleive those bastards disected Mikoto that has to be one of the cruliest things ever. If that were my women and that happened to her after i was done with them they would be wishing for me to send them to hell. THe fight between Hakuoro and Dil at the end was a litte shitty but i can over look that. I was really hoping that Hakuoro would be rewarded for all his good deeds and find a way to stay sadly that did not happen. I was so happy that Eruruu finally admitted her feelings for him to the point where i almost cried. It was nice to see that none of the main charcters ended up dead everyone except Yuzu survied but we all knew she was going to die anyway i feel bad for Oboro but at least she lived her life to fullest till the end what more can anyone ask for.

Touka and Karura were so damn funny they need their own comedy act with just them traveling and getting into all types of shit. My impression for the ending is pretty open i think the writer did it on purpose. My theory is that after about a year Hakuoro was rewarded and allowed to return as a human. I think that everyone felt his pressence returning we all know how accute Aruruu is espcially when it comes to Hakuoro. THey felt his pressence pass over them but he really appreaed in front on Eruruu. If he was a spirt on just a passing a breeze i dont think she would have made the face that she did when she turned around. She made that face because he really was standing behind her. Thats what i think anyway.

Over all a great series i dont hold my breath for season 2 but there is enough story to do 1 or 2 OVA's that would be nice. OH yeah seeing Kuuya still in that childlike state broke my heart all over again. Hope everyone had fun i sure did

Yes Aruru is best little kid if any anime. I never find her annoying even when she cries or whines.

It'd be great if an OVA is on production on Hakuoro's past and a mini sequel on Touka/Karura. LOL XD

Well, I loved this show, but there are some things I don't understand. Why does Hakuoro never think about his life as a human scientist? From what I've gathered, that would probably be his longest 'life,' and even though he fell in love with Mikoto, making his second life perhaps more memorable, it seems like his human life isn't even of relative importance to him. I don't know, if I lived as a normal human being in our society and then suddenly woke up thousands of years later... uh... the past would be pretty important to me.

They also don't say how mankind fell and the artificial beings took over. Did Hakuoro destroy every human? What time period was 'iceman' Hakuoro from? Many questions, no answers. I suppose some people would consider the information to be irrelevant and taking away the mystery would defile the charm of the world Hakuoro is from, but either way I want to know. The Utawarerumono world is fascinating and I wish they would go into it more. Oh well.

I also wish the damn game got translated, cuz from the gamers it seems so much more was explained, though it never will be translated -_-.

I was really looking forwards to the end. It felt rushed, I mean, I watch, it ends, and it's like 'Huh, over already?'. I guess it can't be helped for a 26 episode long series, but it's good.

I agree with those sentiments with the loose ends from that whole flashback episode. (Right now though my staying-up high has just left me after my mad blitz through the entire series +school in <24hr so my mind is not coherent enough to delve deeply into it. Ima gonna drop dead.)

Well, that was a nice episode, and I loved this anime. One of the best shows I've seen lately. I was a bit disappointed by the end... only a bit, though:

I was sad to see that Kuuya still remained in that state, like a child. Also, Yuzuha's death. But at least it seems that Hakuoro returns... or at least that's what I think after watching the last few seconds.

I think I prefer totally pleasing endings in anime (like Scrapped Princess), but Utawarerumono's ending was stil very nice, and I liked it.

Aruru is... hardcore... for some reason that's what I think of when I look back at her. Time and time again she disobays Hakuoro's order and puts herself in utter peril to save her him, and rides with his army on pivotal battles. I remember when she seeks out the location of the bridge that Kucca Kecha expeditionary forces use as well as shielding Hakuouro from Mutsumi to protect him. It's kind of funny how that the end of the series would make you wonder if Mutsumi should start calling Aruru as her little sister now that the whole story's out.

Frankly, there's actually more than enough to go on for sequal (although it won't happen). Aruru has alot of potential to take after Hakuoro's footsteps...

They found iceman, and researched him.. and from from studying his DNA, they created those humanoid specimen with immune system strong enough to live on the surface.

Time periods between these periods are not mentioned.
Here's the general idea:

1. Present, or close to present time: Archaeologist was killed near the petrified god.
2. Not too distant future: Earth surface contaminated. Most likely a world-wide apocalypse of some sort.
3. Far in the future: humans living in shelter, found iceman.
created beings that can live in the surface world, and work for them.
Researched iceman to create mask that can keep them alive on surface also.
Humans pissed off iceman, and were turned into slimes.
4. Even further in future (dozens, hundreds of generations later): Utawarerumono present time.

Now, there's a bit more story in the game that wasn't shown in the anime.

Mutsumi hacked the Amateras laser system, and used it to bring death to all shelters around the world.

Hence, the total genocide of human race was complete, and only the humanoids that fled to the surface world were left on earth.

The end of Utawarerumono is one of the best, if not the best anime ending iv'e seen. I got really emotional when Aruruu started crying, and it just continued to the end of the ep. The kiss between Hakuoro and Eruruu is one of the best scenes ever, though it probably has alot to do with the music. Im playing Suara - Kimi ga Tame over and over again on my comp.

The fact that we don't know exactly how many generations passed between the Iceman incident and when Utawarerumono tooks place means there's no proof of their relationship being incest. It would be if the time span was like 5-10 generations apart , but we live in a world where evidence is fact. Because we have no evidence, it cannot be incest.

And it wouldn't be logical to say it was even if several eons had passed because that would be like saying all the 6 billion people on this earth was committing incest right now since we all come from the same father and mother, Adam and Eve.

This is my justification on why their relationship is fitting and appropriate.

I doubt it takes nearly that many generations (not even 10) before it becomes a wash (in terms of genetic risk to offspring). Even if you set Adam and Eve aside, some say that everyone on the whole planet is related if you go back some 30-32 generations (or around 1200 years). For practical purposes in your day to day lives you probably wouldn't have to go that far back. In any case, it'd be a huge stretch to call their relationship incest; I just can't imagine anyone trying to seriously make that claim. Too many degrees of separation.

I was totally thinking that when they kissed and Hakuoro made the ref to Mikoto but what you said makes it sound better.

A Karura/Touka OVA would be awesome! I love when Touka said she's still immatrue.

Man the ending was depressing and but it was very good. I didnt expect Yuzuha to die but I get why it was done.
Just one ques when Eruruu's turns around at the end, who is she seeing? Im assuming its Hakuoro so can we have an OVA on that please!

Yeah, we were meant to assume it's Hakuoro in person. The game clearly slaps it in front of your face but in the anime it's totally inconclusive. Notice the wind blowing in the last three scenes - Kuuya/Sakuya, Kamyu/Aruruu, and Eruruu. They all get very familiar sensations as it blows by. It could be him. Then again, it could be a wiff of really tasty pound cake. -.-

Just assume it's him. Let Eruruu smile in peace. = D

These are particularly tough questions to answer. Since I'm not really fluent in Japanese, and Dii's colorful language didn't make translating any easier, half the time I'm left scratching my head trying to hook words and phrases together. I could use Renegade334's assistance on this, but here's how I understand it:

So we know Iceman got unfrozen and we know he got resealed by Mutsumi, right? From what Dii said during his cataclysmic fight with Hakuoro in episode 26 (and I stated this in my synopsis of the episode on page 2 of this thread), Mutsumi's effort caused a secondary effect to occur during the sealing process. It split the angry and compassionate personalities apart - probably just their souls and not their bodies.

This is because at some point in the future, Dii traveled to the undergrounds of Onkamiyamukai and found this beast. When he got in proximity with the creature, the angry soul placed himself within Diii. Iceman woke up at the same time, the compassionate side within him. He realized what had happened and fought Dii to try and contain himself. This attempt ended in failure, and in the midst of their fighting, earthquakes shook the ground, and Iceman was presumably drawn to the artifact that still remained in the world: Mikoto's ring amulet. This is how he chose Eruruu...out of all the people in the world to care for him.

Now, when I say compassionate and angry, I don't want you to take it literally. I'm making generalizations to separate their personalities. One took pleasure in turning the humans into slimes (that personality went to Dii), the other didn't want to ease his anger by taking it out on everybody (the Iceman personality). Is this making any sense so far?

Remember, Dii was mortal. He was flesh-and-blood like any other winged people like Urutorii and Kamyu and Munto and Waabe. Urutorii said he was a philosopher for her people who disappeared several years ago. You can assume that Dii chose the hermit life and/or disappeared the moment he made contact with the entity.

Hakuoro is the guy that slept his way into the future. He was the guy who got shot. He was the guy who got possessed in the first place. He was the guy the scientists found under the Earth. He was the guy who got sealed by Mutsumi. He was the guy that Dii found after uncertain amount of time passed.

And Dii is the one who took a shard of Hakuoro to become his cynical self.

If this doesn't make any sense to you, I'll try reexplaining it in simpler terms.
