Well, if you liked Ikki Tousen, there's always the 2nd season of it:

Ikki Tousen Dragon Destiny

as well as the newest installment:

Ikki Tousen Great Guardians

which started coming out recently.

It didn't just start, it just finished. Not to mention that the OP has already seen it, as stated in his post.

First and foremost, I will recommend Zero no Tsukaima.

It doesn't seem that mindlessness bothers you, so I'll second Rosario to Vampire.

Tenjou Tenge is quite similar to Ikki Tousen, though less ecchi, but it's definitely still there.

It's all about Rosario + Vampire <3

KimiAru: They are my Noble Masters <3

Hayate no Gotoku! is debatable.

H20 ~Footprints in the Sand~ is another good series.

I have to apologise for not providing summary, because I tend to give out major spoilers, lol.
Just give those series a google and you will get it within seconds.

The first place to look is always http://www.animesuki.com/series.php.

If you don't understand the difference between unlicensed and licensed series, I recommend reading http://www.animesuki.com/doc.php/listing_policy.html.

No one here can help you download licensed anime (except privately), but there are so many excellent unlicensed shows that I don't see that as a major impediment to enjoying anime.

Support Mangakas and anime writers by buying their stuff. The best thing do is, is stop by your local book store, or Anime Place, and buy a manga. If you don't like it, your out 15 bucks (chump change) and then you can even probably resell it and get about half back. As for anime, there are several ways to preview that art style, such as youtube or google. if u like the art, you can then look on the wonderful Anime-suki and find threads about the anime, and since people use the spoiler button rather well here, find out a bit about the story without knowing the ending. If all these attributes make the anime worth watching. BUY IT!!!! If the western market increases on animes, companies like Geneon wouldn't be giving up on America, and we would continue to get great anime releases on a regular basis.

Of course. I was trying to make the point that if you really haven't watched much anime, there are so many excellent unlicensed shows that they constitute a good starting point.

I'm not much of manga reader like Phlaw, but I lend my support to unlicensed shows I enjoy by buying the Japanese OST albums. Buying Japanese DVDs wouldn't help someone like me with no Japanese, but you don't need language skills to appreciate a good soundtrack album like the ones for Dennou Coil or Bartender.
