Well, it's not bad, and it's definitely entertaining. The Lelouch AI is a gimmick, but it kind of works for now. And they at least didn't seem to go too moe, at least not in the first episode (the character introduced in the final scene might mean otherwise, though). Classic ridiculous ecchiness wins against modern moe all the time, hands down.
And the script isn't bad, either. It's probably what I liked the most from the first episode.

When I first watched the raw, I seriously thought it was Cutey Arms Every mecha show have to make up some name for the mechas right?
This is good for me. Not too much fanservice in the TV version, DVD version with all the fanservice you want. Since I don't really like fanservice too much, I'll just stick with the TV version. If sunrise is releasing a blu-ray version of this, they probally expect this to be fairly popular.

Zero is well, Zero. But if you try to dig for anything if there is any, he sounds like Death the Kid from Soul Eater, my friend said someone from xxxholic, someone here said Tea Meister = Tytania(I'll have to watch it some time). I'm not sure which reference the golden gun has, but it felt like something. Like the colony's appearance and appearing out of a dimensional rift felt like Abel's Ark in Xenosaga. The real obvious ones comes after the colony laser(obvious Gundam reference). I CAN FLYYYY can only be found in Eureka 7 from my mecha database. Colony drop, stopping a falling colony = Char's Counter Attack. Feathers = Wing Gundam ZERO Custom. There definitely lots of references thrown around, I don't know all of them.

In the first episode, the part I first lol'ed was \the bit where Neneko says (from StrikeS sub): "I had a kick-ass bowel movement!"
One funny thing, it seems the eldest sister is the head of the family, which begs the question, where are the parents? I also expected Itsuki to be in her twenties... 17 seems too young for her character. I only found out when I visited the official site. Another also, Nina Stratoski's surname seems awfully derivative. XD The bit where Nami says 'Kuroi kami-sama...' right after Leopard's colony enters. When they first go into the city, a transposed Satie's Gymnopedies plays... Last edited by qmeister; 2009-01-15 at 22:03. |
