Recommend typesetting tools
I'm looking for a program that can browse uninstalled fonts and display custom text for comparison, including Japanese characters. Ideally freeware
Basically I want an aid to matching onscreen text without having to install thousands of fonts. What do you use? Also, feel free to recommend any other typesetting related tools. |

linotype is your only real option. linotype can manage the fonts in the background while you use aegis, and aegis will detect the managed fonts as being installed when they are not.
linotype is not free. The free applications are mostly all just font viewers, and are not very flexible. What you want is a font manager. Honestly I have never come across a font manager that is freeware which I'd consider worth 2 shits. The only one that comes close is x-fonter, and that application is a resource whore as well as glitchy. |
