Took me about three minutes to watch this episode. I thought the worst was behind last week, but boy was I wrong.

Not sure how much of this is rumor, but according to a post on 2ch a lot of 213 comes from the staff's desire to redo a lot of Part 1 moments in widescreen. Like Hayato Date wanted to remake the scene of Naruto and Sasuke fighting on the hospital roof in widescreen. Matsutake apparently put a lot of effort into animating and/or directing the hospital fight and the Valley of the End fight.

If they want to remake the valley/roof fight in widescreen, fine, but show us a stupid filler fight between Rock Lee and Neji or something. Anything other than flashbacks. A complete waste of two "canon" episodes. Please Naruto Wiki list these two as filler.

The only thing that happened was that Naruto escaped from Yamato and is now running towards Sasuke.

Now next week is going to be the same flashbacks but from Kakashi's side. Odds are he won't run into Sasuke till the very end.

99% flashback shit! I zapped through this episode and I got so angry! This was the worst! Even the preview for the next episode is 99% flashback! That is even worse than fillers! We know that! We don't need that kind of confusing bullshit for people who are new to the story. You're either interested and catch up or you don't!! People either learn about history or they don't! It's just the same. If you want to understand the future you must know the past.
In fact, the problem is another. People don't become more intelligent when they work together, they become more dumb. The more people there are, the dumber it gets and the process is being slowed down as if each had a different everything but the same brakes that work together perfectly. No need for slowbobs. No time to waste with flashbacks. Ever a decade we remember well what's happened. We don't need that! Do you hear me?!

Flashbacks really need to become a taboo in the anime business. Everyone (who doesn't already) needs to start taking serious offense to flashbacks...

"I can't believe they showed a flashback during Naruto... my kids were watching for crying out load! I had to quickly turn off the TV!"

Personally I wasn't that bothered by this episode, I've read it in the manga and plan on re-watching Naruto so the flashbacks didn't bother me. I didn't choose 'torturous' because the episode contained some decent scenes and was well edited, they didn't just throw in a bunch of clips from the previous episodes like they did before.

But, I can understand why people are getting annoyed, especially people who have not read the manga and are waiting for the main plot to continue.
