This thread is for those of you with questions about the Shin Sekai Yori anime or manga. There are many questions that don't need a whole thread to discuss them. A simple practical answer straight from the anime or manga without any speculation can solve these connundrums. If someone has such a question about Shin Sekai Yori which can be solved by answering with facts from an official source, then please ask that question here.

Please don't post in this thread unless you are asking a question or answering one. Please remember that it only takes 1 person to answer a question. And don't speculate! You can only reply with cold, hard, merciliessly unforgivable facts. If you have to speculate, then please just tell the querrant that no answer is known, but here are some facts that might help him make up his own mind.

Make sure you use spoiler tags if your question is about the anime, manga, or any non-anime source. Untagged spoilers are risking a ban. There are two ways to create clearly marked spoiler tags, as shown in the following:

The easy way: By simply clicking on this icon which can be found in the Quick Reply or Reply to Thread template. This is how I create spoiler tags.
or
The macho way: By using those uber vB codes as shown in the following...

Spoiler Tag Example
Don't forget to use a title for the spoiler!
1) The novel series consists of 2 or 3 novels?

2) How many pages is it in total?

3) Does the text in split pages, like in the Monogatari Series?

4) How many kanji does it require (2000/highschhol or 4000/uni)?

The novel has been published in several different formats. There are single volume, two volume and three volume releases.

2) How many pages is it in total?
The one volume edition has 953 pages (plus chapter lists, adverts etc.)

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the Monogatari books so I don't know what you mean. Each page of the one volume edition has two "rows" of text on, if that's what you mean.

No idea I'm afraid.

Since this is 5 episodes in and got itself a nice little sub-forum, what's your opinion of it in terms of plot, animation, sound, etc.? I remember reading some negative comments pre-release, but perhaps it's worth picking up after all?

@BluWacky: Thanks for the info, in between most LNs have a single row of vertical lines, the Monogatari Series is the only one I know that uses two lines like normal novels.

On to an anime questions, will they be changing directors this often... it wasn't a big deal for the introductory animation of the first three episode, but the fifth one looked totally out of place.

Thanks for the answers. Based on some posts I also got what was skipped from the novel in that scene. I was satisfied with what was shown in the anime, just felt uncomfortable which it was probably meant to be anyway. And now that I moved on to later episodes I don't think of it strangely anymore.

is the LN/anime/manga share the same story plot? I watched the anime and just read the manga it seems like the sequence is a bit off or something.

It's not a light novel.

Anyway, the anime is trying to be faithful to the novel's plot. The manga has the same basic setting but based on the first volume, goes its own way with both plot and characterization.

I disagree with Kuromitsu about how faithful the manga and anime are particularly concerning characterization and atmosphere, nonetheless he supports the popular view.

I don't think there's a point in discussing this until you actually read the novel, but just for the record - it's "she". :3

I am reading the novel... unfortunately, very slowly. Nonetheless, this not in the thread to discuss this. But to be more clear on this, I do not disagree with everything some of you guys (and girls apparently) are saying, rather that you exaggerated some arguments, while ignoring others, when it comes to that manga/anime loyalty discussion. I don't even think that's the biggest issue with neither.

What will I expect, if I was to watch this?

Currently drawn in by Yuri kissing in someone avatar.

If yuri is what you're looking for better go for the manga, instead of the anime, that part of the story is better told there.
