Here's the glimpse of the adult Anju who's still watching over Karin and her niece 22 years after the main story finished.

Spoiler for Anju:

Aye, no dispute there... it wasn't the concept of Winner and his ancestry that got on my nerves so much as the ham-fisted performance and delivery :P I just found it annoying rather than "funny". The historical tie-backs were actually pretty neat in the anime.

The light novels are actually supposed to tie in with the manga, and some of manga actually list/suggest where the novels "fit" in the story arc.

I just cannot remember when the first book fits into the mangas....around book 5???

Ann

ps....what does that script say in the Anju scenes? (heck, I'd love to know more about what happens with all those people, even if I oppose the way the author handled Karin's family way of handling the Issues)

So, does anybody know anything about future Karin/Chibi Vampire novels? (nonmanga). Tokyopop stopped at #5, but I know there are more in Japan.

Tokyopop cut about half of its publication releases and the Chibi Vampire novels were part of the cut back. So there is no more novel releases in america in the forseeable future for Chibi Vampire.

Wah! I thought that was what I read. Sucks. Maybe they'll change their mind...or maybe they'll start offering a Netflix-like manga-online reading site where you can pay $15/month to read novels online....

Having read the Karin Airlmail volume now, I personally think Freheed's (or however you're supposed to spell his name in english) aunt looks more like Elda than Karin. (and her name being Elga......)

Not much to say about the first two extras since they weren't about the Karin story, but they were nice.

Spoiler:

My favorite part of the whole volume was actually the 4-panel shorts at the end where Kgaesaki tells of the trip to Seattle for the Sakura-con. With the 4-panel on "BL," it makes me wonder if Kagesaki went to the store and saw those guys there who were always shouting "YAOI, GET YOUR YAOI!!" all the years I went there. They actually scared off some friends of my friends when they went there for the first time one year....

Kikuchi?

Otherwise, LOL. I've never been to a comicon (I'm so afraid) but it sounds...strange.

We can only hope...

(I'm learning Japanese right now, so I'll probably be able to read them completely sometime in the future)

Anyway, there's 11 novels total. The later ones are... interesting, to say the least.

novel 8 has Kenta bitten by another vampire who sucks out his "morals".
I thought it would be more interesting than the way it turned out though.
All it did was turn him into an asshole for a little while.

And I think novels 7,8,9 are inter-connected. The same character appears in all 3 volumes (that reverse trap vampire lady).

The two last novels take place during a sports festival at Karin's school, where she learns to become a cheerleader. (and fails at it)

Oh, and did I mention Anju wears NORMAL CLOTHES in one of the novels? (looks more like gym clothes though) Weird.

Well, thanks for the info! I suppose I'll have to learn to read Japanese, too. (not that it's a bad thing, just timely)

Would That One have the same, er, needs?

ANd I still think it sucks (pardon the pun) that Karin was the one that had to "change" in the final agreement, just so she could be with Kenta and live a normal life.

I agree, completely cruel, and it could have been done differently by the author. It felt...somewhat like a copout, too.

How could that be happy Sure, it has a happy ending...but not a completely happy one. Maybe that is the pont? We can't have our cake and eat it too?

At least it didn't have that usual tragic ending that a lot of animes seem to adore: one dies, and the remaining lover lives on with passion in his/her heart. Ugh.
