Haha. This sure was low budget but that's because the production was cheap. Sekai de Ichiban Tsuyoku Naritai is Earth Star Entertainment's (associated with Comic Earth Star, a relatively new shounen publication which only launched in 2011) first full-length anime, where they previously only produced short-episode anime like Teekyuu or Yama no Susume.

I was hoping she would come to the conclusion she could do both a lot sooner. I was also hoping she would incorporate more of the dancer training into her move set a bit more. Maybe that's for the possible sequel. A Sakura/Elena tag team match would be fun too.

I just finished this anime recently.
I'll be honest, I thought this was show where fanservice series.....and well it was. But I ended up loving the plot a lot to the point where I thought fanservice was a bit overdone. I guess in other words, I started taking the anime seriously. I enjoyed this anime from start to finish. I really ended up loving the plot and the characters. I thought the anime was well paced and I can feel for Sakura as she went through her trials. It certainly not one of those anime where she just waltz through and win despite problems from the start, Sakura didn't have an easy start here. And I though I really felt for her during the episode where she was really unpopular with the wrestling fans and forgotten by her idol fans and felt that she just wanted to give up. She has that never give up trope, but I like how they showed her limits. I liked Elena too and really felt for her when Sakura initially chose not to come back. I guess this made her one of the possible candidates for Blue Panther (I initially guessed she had someone else try and beat Sakura up so she would return) but I was seriously wondering how they were gonna explain it. In the end, I thought it was a decent explanation even if I wasn't really fully convinced since Elena was still being an idol while Sakura was doing it full time. Maybe she was that much more talented. I don't hate the ending but I feel like I'm not fully satisfied by it either. It just seems like a convenient way to solve things than force Sakura to make a real choice. I thought Sakura's decision between her wrestling life and her older idol life was one if the main plot points and I guess doing both seems like it's just a convenient way to end things. It was okay but it doesn't make me want to shout "this is the best ending ever!". I haven't been following outside development of this series so I don't know how good or how poor it did commercially but I guess all I can do is hope it gets a second season, even if the ending is decent for a series ender. I also wish to read the manga someday, maybe after I know how to read Japanese or something. I'm under the impression that it's still ongoing and I'm curious in how it differs from the anime.

So I finished the anime and read the manga. The anime covered everything from the manga with slight deviations in detail.
But I just found out the story is still not over yet. The author said in the afterword of Vol 5 manga that everything so far was just Part 1, and Part 2 is being worked on. Most likely the anime won't continue from the sales but we can see what happens next in the manga. But the thing is it's been almost 2 years since Part 1 ended and still no signs of Part 2 being released. |
