The same reason why that unibrow cop was popular in Japan. beside, if it's not popular, would you think Show Hayami are willing to show up for a single line of "Can we stop? I want to take a dump"

To be fair, the funeral episode was a bit overkill.

Possibly important: On the newest manga chapter itself (without any spoiler), one of the characters stated that due to the difficult schedule and the numerous complains of the anime, it is possible the manga will end soon. Throw that into the fact that a recurring villian appear with some new face, it does seems like Sorachi is preparing to go out with a bang. Of course, Gori-san had been trolling forever, so yeah...

That could explain why Sorachi suddenly changed title from Gintama to Kintama ;P. To be honest though I doubt that anime/manga will end that easily. I wouldn't be surprised if all of this was just one big trolling of Sorachi and anime creators. That could make a comeback so much more spectacular. I'm not sure how well DVDs sell and how good are ratings of TV viewing but manga sells really well, every volume exceeds 300k copies (possibly 500k) which might seem not much compared to most popular titles but it is much since there aren't many titles that sell better.

for one thing, I'll prefer it not to end but I'll prefer it to move to a late night time slot. if I were a parent, I'd definitely not want my kids to watch the more 'over the limits' episodes.

Sounds like classic Gintama trolling.

Actually, the DVD sell for Gintama is REALLY good. It's rare to find a midday anime that sell more than 10000 copy each volume where most of midday anime already got profit from outside DVD selling (One piece, Sazae-san, Doraemon, etc). The last OVA even sold more than 50k and the movie is a hit in Japan. And the preorder for the DVD for this arc even reach Amazon top 15 right now.

I think the only reason if Gintama going to end soon because PTA or Sorachi itself going to end it soon

if this show is going to end id rather it be on Sorachis terms not a PTA group who cant control their kids and blame a tv show.

Classic reason that has been used since eps 50 of Gintama...
Well, if Gintama is getting sued because of its awesomeness, we will hear more about it...

Nice Gundam stuff this time too.
Dark Vader was pretty persistent.
The rebellion against Vader was kinda cool.
Ships transforming... now that was the best part ^^

From the time when I started reading the manga, there's always that line with people complaining about the manga/anime, anime has low ratings, censorship, copying things, etc., I am sure they are just playing it again for laughs like always.

That wasn't my intention. All I'm saying is that this episode gave him even more reasons not to trust Sorachi.

I know. Komica Island Taiwan actually have a term for it: "Gorilla is playing with reader's crotch again." (猩猩玩弄讀者的股間 )
