What I don't quite understand is that the author doesn't give the fans the obvious perfect ending the vast majority is rooting for: Something along the lines of SHUFFLE, where we had Asa as "winner" while the other girls didn't give in but keep it up.

I'd say let Natsuru succumb to Shizuku's efforts. She's playing the "de-facto public girlfriend" anyway, and it would be perfectly in-character for her to let the other girls continue their pursuit even afterwards. Why deny them their share? He's hers anyway. This would allow for a lighthearted ending which is giving the clear fan favorite (Shizuku) her "win" while at the same time keeping up Natsuru's persecution for the other ones.

That would be a good way to end it, I always liked that fact about SHUFFLE! Asa "won"(one I actually liked the most) yet the others girls still go after him and Asa was fine with that(reason why I liked her quite alot

Thank god they are closing the storyline. The promotional poster looks anything but positive too. Kaede makes an awesome bad guy.

That would definitely be the best way to end things. It's a shame they didn't do that the first time around.
