Sorry to bump this with such a bad news, but...according to afterword of volume 8, Sensei will be postponing Last Embryo indefinitely. From what I can see this's mainly the result of HORRIBLE editorial department at Sneaker. The draft was actually finished in the last year's October, but for some reason they're kept him waiting for over a year. The stress from this reflected on his body and mind (he even collapsed at one point).

As such he decided to distance himself from Last Embryo and postpone it.

ugh, reminds me of a certain isekai serious in overlap that i've been waiting for long and even checking its release for every month but just to be delayed another month. now that story is also in hiatus with no further news on when will the new release will be. though, I partially blame the illustrator there but the publisher didn't clear if its really a awol illustrator again for that series.

I don't mind the author taking some time for health issues, it's normal; but I 've seen too many stories that have never recovered (as in, the author never went back to writing the story regularly afterwards) properly again after a big initial hiatus. hope this one won't follow that trend :/.

oooh... that's really not good.

Pointing out that they way the author phrase it he doesn't actually point fingers towards sneaker bunko being at fault. Lots of unfortunate circumstances just piled up one after another (I wonder if covid is one of those). He even says that he ended up causing lots of trouble for sneaker bunko and his family.

But more importantly, the way he says this... We may indeed never see that story ended properly. Even if we get a end after a while, it may just be an end for the sake of ending it rather than what the author originally planned to do.

As for Sneaker, I think it's just him being humble. The fact remains editorial department took their sweet time with it.

But yeah, now that I'm reading it myself it's looking even worse. And I think it should be obvious but Million Crown is also part of Mondaiji Series, so this one is most likely on hold too.
Which sucks because these two are pretty much the only LNs I read.

Can you even monetize content on kakuyomu? All side stories are for free.
He might use enty/fantia/patreon.

I don't think so since momoco has been quite active with her own drawings and stuff. I think it's more that they didn't commission the images from her to save costs (she is one of the most popular illustrators so I imagine the commissions must be appropriately high). And, it's not just mondaiji, Sneaker has problems with other novels too, most likely because of corona.

I don't think you can monetize it, not sure, though. He could open a fanbox or patreon, yeah.


As for switching publishers, it depends on the current contract I guess. I've seen novels jump from one pup to another without reboot, but that's usually the case, yeah.

as previously mentioned, it has no insert illusts
It comes with the short story (The Story of how Tokuteru and Izayoi resolved the kidnapping incident) published by the sneaker legend.

The delinquent leader senpai from the kakuyomu short story is related to the Tsuchimikados(?), and is studying under Abe no Seimei via Canaria's introduction.

During LE events, he works in the onmyou dep and is acting as a navigator for Izayoi's group.

Incidentally, there are people that 'awakened because of atavism'
Incidentally, Seimei is also in good health, and Asuka is acquainted to Kuzunoha (in the short story)

Edward revealed to Homura that he is from Ouroboros.
Only Izayoi can mass produce the Origin of nano machines.
Nanami and Parashurama's nanomachines have been specifically tuned, so they lost their all-purposeness.
The only ways to deal with the nano machine research are either to capture Izayoi or wait for Homura's progress.

The game stage is set in Rome of Izayoi and Homura's group's era.
The objective to clear is about pope's assassination. Homura and the rest are trying to prevent that.

Shiroyasha's declaration looked quite promising and brought a lot of unrest.
It feels like it raised a flag hinting at turning into a Demon King and confrontation with Izayoi.

I think the readers should be about done with the last volume, so let me announce it formally.
Mondaiji series will stop publication at Last Embryo V8. I'm sorry that this happened after nine years of company, but I'm planning to complete it one day however I can, so I hope you can wait patiently for it.


There are many and various reasons why this happened, but the biggest of them would be my health problems. Well, there are other reasons, but that was the main reason of discontinuation.
But man, I fully experienced what it really means when humans break down! It made me suffer so much that even the hell's cauldron wouldn't hold out!


Normally, I made sure that mishaps and stuff that happen during the writing process never made it to the readers, and whenever the book was done, me and the editor went for a drink and called it even. However, I really wanted to let the readers know about the illustrations this time, and above all, I felt it was dishonest to the readers that waited for so long, hence I blew up. I still don't know why they did that.


As for my health condition, it has settled down for the most part now. I've recovered enough to play games, and I took this opportunity to go through my game backlog.
