Has a nice cinematic feel to it, although my main interest is the back story with what happened to the previous civilisation. The demon they were talking about is probably some old bioweapon judging from the remains.

They look fine to me, you can interpret 5 fingers on each hand. If anything the feet are the weirder ones. BTW, what time is that scene from anyway?

Actually the better question here is, who are these other anime that you speak of? Don't remember any demons in K-On! =P

I find it funny how people easily dismiss a show they really don't know anything about, heck no one knows anything about it since it's an original animation. I for one didn't have a lot of hopes for it when I started, but I didn't dismiss it outright.

Hmm, episode one is a very colorful episode...
Surpass my initial expectation... And quite surprisong... Aya Endou is back on her glass type chara... Phylicia is a mix of Mugi, Sawako-sensei and Miyuki... As for the new seiyuu, she do a very good job for her first role... |

I didn't think the myth was shallow either guys. Seeing those girls in the picture of that myth caused me to pause a bit and think that tragedy may be down the road here. Maybe these are the reincarnation of the girls that died long ago.

Anyway, the music and scenery porn was pretty damn atmospheric here, not to mention that underwater scene. I really did get a sort of cinematic/epic adventure vibe from this, which is great, except the main character has 'arrived' now so I don't know if that's the last we'll see of that. Regardless though, it seems pretty clear that at least the soundtrack and animation (aside from examples like that sequence above) are going to be decent. Regarding the content, I kinda really like the myth about the fire girls. The idea of embracing a fire-spewing head in turns in order to stop the flames is kind of fascinating (heroically and gruesomely so) in a mythical way. The idea of pretty young maidens having their bodies scarred and ravaged by flame in a more immediate context (i.e. in reality, i.e. in the present) would be kinda distressing to me instead. (In a perverted sense, if that's not clear.) Speaking of perversion, thank you Kaioshin for reminding me of that 'dumping water on Konata' scene because to be honest it made me think dirty things. The assertion that that was fanservice is interesting cause if I think about it, yeah holy shit that was fanservice of a dark and demeaning kind that seems wholly antithetical to the rest of the show (y'know, 'heartwarming', the cheesy 'feelings/sounds reverberate' stuff, etc. lol). Anyway, I watched the first episode kinda randomly on a whim but it's turned out to be actually rather decent (actually more accurately, I guess I mean to say it's got more than a few rather well done parts) so I guess I'll be following this from now on. |

You talking about the manga art? And its more like Kannagi art then K-on! (since I think its the same studio, and did it first as it were, lol). Also, isn't there a K-on! season 2 scheduled? =P

I did a little more searching since wasn't sure why you were even expecting this. And really, you should have seen it coming, he's not in charage of animation! Though he does seem to play a larger role in the manga; where the artstyle is more similar, if you could say that. But then its anime, it looks different even when they copy/paste manga strips. I'm really getting much less of a K-on feel, art aside, than I am of Aria. Just from eps 1, I'm seeing something on the order of Akari meets Miyafuji. Combine that with the beautiful art and great music, this is in the running for my favorite of the season
