Only got round to watching episode 19 yesterday, but have to post to give credit where it's deserved. I don't have many expectations of Precure other than it will be fairly entertaining and have some pretty sparkley stuff, which I happen to like. So where did this come from? Great art direction, genuine emotion, believable dialogue instead of cliché spouting, is this really Precure? A small thing I liked, when the girls were walking home in the rain discussing their names, Akane was annoyed with Nao for mimicking her accent, we saw her expression change several times before she told Nao off about it, it was more subtle than the usual way they'd do such a joke while still being funny and cute. Another nice piece of character interaction was near the end where Chihaya imitated the way Yayoi said she really liked her name. Slightly making fun of her but in an affectionate way that told us they aren't just mother and daughter but best friends as well. Oh, and they made Peace beautiful, parachute hair and all, she was beautiful, not cute, not pretty, beautiful; and, as Midonin wrote, she had dignity to go with it. I had doubts when I first saw her design and read the description of her personality but she's turned into a heroine suitable for the main target audience rather than the otaku-bait moe-blob I was fearing. Bravo Toei.

Yayoi is still everyone's little sister, and I adore pixiv's interpretation of her as a toku fanatic on par with Gai Ikari. If anything, that only makes this episode more powerful. Yayoi loves heroes, and as this episode showed, when she's motivated just right, she can be one. Her popularity with both sides of the fanbase is well deserved. (Though the fanbase loves everybody, as a whole and in various combinations. The amount of memes popping up around the characters is staggering.)

We got the cures, the group attack... And then, what ? I have lost interest in the show, totally. Someone here mentioned the fact that the only character-developement we got was about the cures while in Cure-5, we got at least some background characters. And it's true... |

So if I'm reading this correctly, smile precure will be on pause at the end of next month.

We got the title for our second half ending. "Mankai*Smile!". It also comes with an insert song. On a similar note, the tracklist for the first Vocal Album is up. Yayoi's song is titled "100% Hero". Yayoi rocks.

Anyway, episode 20. It was a rather standard episode, but I liked the way that they handled the fight this time.
