Why not eat it the 'Kilawin' Style? No need to cook, just vinegar and several spices and we are good to go... Raw is the best food out there... specially if its BETA... pinoys would be trolling the world with 'WE EAT BETA FOR BREAKFAST'

In Alternative when in Takeru's Fubiki, I believe she states that she has some amount of flight hours. I don't remember the exact number, but it was long enough to surprise Takeru IIRC.

Am stressing out while trying to rewrite (again) the part of the fic I'm doing. The revelation of Total Eclipse's storyline (EG the YF-23 being reinstated-maybe, and that the terrorist attack is only halfway thru the story) has buggered up my fic storyline like you won't believe. So while trying to calm down, I just went and watched a bit of Red Vs Blue and...

...US Army F-15 Eagle Training Squadron. Two of them, in a Box canyon, separated into a Red Army and a Blue Army. Essentially a dumping ground for pilots too stupid to be allowed in actual combat...

..please. Stop me before I do this.

EDIT: On an aside, I've finally gotten a title for my fic: The Watchtower.

- The song is one of many reasons I used it. Also, "Watchtower" is the code-name of Elle's UCAV flight---EG an "eye in the Sky", or Watchtower.
Plus, listening to music to put me in the right frame of mind for writing has some interesting side effects--like solvign some of the problems that got me stuck in the first place.

I was writing a badass Yuuhi(Who burns BETA with sight alone) at the same time she retains her former characteristics (Glorious, noble, majestic)... however she formed a 2nd persona...

So, was messing around with some stuff and some ideas. This has certain hints for something that sasahara17 will be releasing in the near future, but is essentially standalone.

As with most of my snips, this was a "fast" writing excercise; i sat at the keyboard and hammered this out in 2 hours, then went back later to do some edits and touchups.

I find it interesting, somewhat, that all of my Muv-Luv writing has been character-focused instead of combat or the like. Huh. Slice of Luv, I suppose.

Suggested music to put you in the mood. Anyway, without further ado:

Somewhere in the Indian Ocean

“Tower, this is Skull 3-1, requesting permission for flyby, over.”

“Negative, Skull, the pattern is full.”

“Roger, thanks for the flyby, tower.”

“Skull 3-1, what are yo-”

The sleek white form of Lieutenant Junior Grade Hikaru “Rick” Ichijo’s VF-8A Crusader II roared past the island of the USS John F. Kennedy, afterburner in Zone V, maximum thrust and expended munitions allowing the Valkyrie to easily break the sound barrier. The thunderous noise of the sonic boom shocked hearts and rattled loose objects.

And, in the case of Lieutenant Commander Lisa Hayes, caused her to spill hot coffee all over her Service Whites. Had she been wearing her Service Khakis, the stains would have been bad enough, but on her undress whites, a uniform she liked, this meant war. Especially since not only were her whites stained, but she had spilt coffee; nourishing life-giving Navy coffee, and not the usual swill served on Army bases.

Her whole life, she’d been a filial child and a dutiful student. An Admiral’s daughter, she was calm, polite, dutiful, and efficient in her duties, and wasn’t the kind of girl to engage in one-night stands or drunken revelry. Even anger was something she rarely indulged in. Her classmates at the US Naval Academy at Annapolis would say that she was as calm as a lake, that nothing could piss her off.

But she’d make an exception for Rick Ichijo, protégé of Commander Roy Focker, the Commander Air Group for the JFK’s VTFs and TSFs. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that meeting Lt. JG Ichijo had caused her to develop her temper.

“I will have his ass,” growled Lisa, and to the bridge crew who saw her, Lisa’s wrath had transformed her. It was as if her anger had made her features sharper, turning her from an ordinary plain-looking woman into a wrathful queen with a cold and terrible beauty. Fear reigned in their hearts, as they instinctively held their breath, hoping she would not target them, and would focus instead on the carefree pilot now coming in for landing. “I want that goddamned Valkyrie pilot’s ass,” she repeated.

“Honey, if I weren’t attached, I’d want a piece of that boy’s fine ass,” drawled Lieutenant Commander Claudia LaSalle, and Lisa turned her baleful gaze on her. The older woman merely smirked. “If you’re going after his ass, you’d better do it before Roy gets to him. You know he thinks of him like the kid brother he never had.”

“I’ll do that. Thank you, Commander LaSalle,” said Lisa stiffly.

“Anytime, Commander Hayes.” Claudia’s tone remains as amused as always.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on one’s perspective, Lisa didn’t have a chance to chew Rick’s ass. She did have time to change into a clean uniform, but by the time she found him, First Lieutenant John Davis was debriefing him and taking down notes, and wouldn’t release Rick to her clutches.

Ordinarily, she could respect that about Davis; he didn’t care what other people thought, so long as he did his job. As one of the Marine pilots put it, the Malaysian ISAF intelligence officer had been shat upon by life and the brassholes so much, he had no fucks to give when he was performing his duties. She understood that… but it didn’t mean she wasn’t annoyed that he was protecting her prey.

She spent the rest of her watch in a foul mood. By the time she went off-duty, the bridge was deathly silent, with everyone’s nerves on a knife edge. Except for Claudia, but then Claudia had been an enlisted Marine before she took her Navy Commission, and was thus immune to Lisa’s simmering wrath. The negative waves simply washed over Claudia and flowed away, like waves breaking upon a cliff.

And then, as Lisa made her way to the mess for a mug of coffee, fate smiled upon her.

Because standing in front of her, having just exited the mess, was the young man whose ass she desired.

Rick glanced to the side, saw the plain brunette officer, took stock of her expression, and ran for it.

Lisa snarled and charged after him.

Rick had the advantage of attire – he was wearing an olive drab flightsuit and boots, a loose and comfortable garment that allowed freedom of movement and sure footing. Lisa was wearing her undress whites with heels, which meant she couldn’t run as fast as him, given her skirt and unsure footing.

Despite that, her wrath gave her enough of an edge to keep up with him as he ran through the corridors of the Big John, until Rick ducked around a corner and vanished. Lisa turned the corner, and smirked, as she saw the hatch for the storage room in front of her. Reaching forward, she placed her hand on the handle, and then worked the device, opening the hatch with a swift jerk and storming into the storage room, locked on to Rick. Lisa had the presence of mind to slam the hatch closed and locked, and tackled the pilot, knocking him to the floor-

-as Rick’s arms wrapped around her, his lips finding hers, both of them kissing passionately and hungrily, Lisa making soft happy sounds as they snuggled together.

A small corner of Rick’s mind is pleased that he left a sleeping bag in this storage room, and had it strategically laid out to cushion his fall when Lisa tackled him. It spares a moment to congratulate itself, before returning to the business of kissing the hell out of Lisa Hayes; plain, ordinary Lisa Hayes, who is the most beautiful woman to Rick Ichijo.

“Sorry about the coffee,” says Rick sheepishly, sometime later, as they come up for air. “Didn’t mean that.”

“Well, I think you can consider yourself partially forgiven, flyboy,” purrs Lisa. The two of them are still on the floor, though they’ve worked themselves into a sitting position, with Lisa occupying Rick’s lap.

“Only partially?” grins Rick.

“You need to practice your kissing more, Lieutenant,” says Lisa, mock-sternly, grinning in reply. “And as a senior officer I believe it falls unto me to continue your education.”

“Aye aye, Commander. By all means, please continue to instruct me in the finer aspects –

Lisa’s delighted smile is his only warning before she darts forward, pressing her lips to his; he responds enthusiastically, initiating tongue-to-tongue communication, and the sparkle in her eyes is the last thing Rick sees before his own eyes drift shut, and he floats in the endless bliss of her company.

It makes all the fighting and acrimony worth it.

“Seriously Claudia, what crawled up Lisa’s ass? It’s like she can’t stand at Rick, just looks at him and bam! Instant fury!”

“Roy, honey, you should know by now that we women are mysterious beings, and you poor men ain’t ever gonna figure us out.”

“Yeah, well I hope she doesn’t kill him. Rick’s got a lotta potential. In ten years, he could be holding down my job. IF he doesn’t get himself killed by your friend… Jesus, the only time I’ve seen hate that strong was when Davis had to talk to that IRG Captain, what was her name, Sumeragi or something…What did he do to piss her off?”

“Roy, how is it that a man like you doesn’t realize how easy it is to piss off a woman?”

“…because I don’t piss you off?”

“Roy, honey, I’m on the path of nullfucks. That isn’t the same as not pissing me off.”

“Well, then, please allow me to make up for incurring your wrath, my lady.”

“Well, Lisa, you look happier today,” remarks Claudia at breakfast the next day, and Lisa gives her a flat look.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Claudia.”

“You didn’t get your ashes hauled – you’re too much of a good girl for that – but I’m pretty sure you had some fun last night.” The older woman smirks. “Don’t worry, I ain’t telling.”

“Claudia, we’re in the wardroom, having breakfast. This is not the place for a conversation like this,” says Lisa, as she takes her tray and looks for a place to sit. “Futhermore-”

“Well, good morning, ladies,” drawls the CAG, carrying a tray of his own. Behind him, to the side, is his protégé, right on his mentor’s wing. “Seems the wardroom’s a little full; I don’t suppose you’d mind us joining you?”

“Of course not, Roy,” smiled Claudia sweetly, before Lisa can object, positioning herself to sit beside Roy at the round table, with Rick looking nervous, sitting next to Lisa. He nods politely to her and takes his seat.

Quietly, without fanfare, under the table, Lisa’s hand reaches out and squeezes Rick’s, a gesture he returns with a small smile, as his foot does its best to wrap around hers.

Beside them, Claudia smiles brightly and knowingly at Lisa, and returns her focus to distracting Roy
