I see my error, the shaing does contain a few point where it's pretty off. but Oh well.. better luck next time...

Well the problem here is simple,,, the first shade layer was meant for a light source to come from above, I came halfway and thought it would be cooler to have a lightsource to be in the upper right corner.

mixing those two was a bad idea, yet I thought I could get away with it..... -_-

I'm lazy,

the hair of the girl on the right is kinda odd. Just the way the light hits it. Well, more specifically, the two pig tails. If they start bright, then go dark, they almost never would get bright again at the tips. You know, these things aren't that hard to fix. Just little mistakes. You'll get better. Atleast your drawing skills are pretty good

I'll try and find the source file on my laptop which I can't find at the moment , then I'll post the art without dynamic shading, I think it'll look better that way

Actually, it looks quite nice. The bigger problem I have with it is the graininess of hte lines...

Regarding the shadows, who said they always had to be set? They could be under a tree or something, which explains the blotches and stuff.

the lines between the light and shadow are too distinct
and chiyo looks sort of V shaped around the torso...
if you touched up chiyo a little and got rid of the shadows, it would be a great picture

the V form is because the leans over pretty much and rests her arms on her knees. yet you can't see that.

I'll try and get rid of the unnormal shadows and repost it. it's looks better that way

here's the simplified version of the picture.
I deleted the layer which made the odd shades. I certainly won't try to mix shades anymore

The scetching was originally done by someone else, I redrew the scetch and it's content with pencil and then ink.
after scanning it I fixed it up a little, and then colored it completely in PSP6.

that's basicly it and took me about 2 hours.
